lightning vaporizes cross
A Russian teenager survived a lightning strike which was so powerful it vaporised a gold cross on her neck.

The bolt hit Marina Motygina, 16, from Ekaterinburg in western Russia on the top of her head and seared through her body into the ground.

The necklace she had been wearing was 'atomised', leaving burns in the shape of a cross on her neck, Komsomolskaya Pravda reported.

4. Narrowly escaping with your life always cranks up the
juices and often kicks off a round or two of reconsideration.
Pity boosh didn't go to VN. He might have resolved a few of the important intellectual issues in his life.

... what's exactly the melting point of gold?
And what's its vaporizing point?

Was it PURE gold?
(Unusual in jewelry as it is to easily deformed)

And what about her tooth fillings?
Rings? Piercings? Wristwatch?

And another question:
Who profits of the whole story?

5. She wasn't lifted off into the sky.........
and "raptured"? This sounds like the devil's work to me. Satan strikes again!

Of course she could have been wearing a gold penis around her neck and the same thing would have happened but since it was a crucifix this will get a LOT of attention. :eyes:

6. Bet she develops stigmata and is performing healings
before long. Well, in this world where you can have the Virgin Mary on a slice of toast, she's would be more believable as a source of miracles than your basic GE toaster.

10. I think this one is "bullshit"
"atomize" gold? Not even possible. not with a bolt of lightning.

while traveling from her head to ground, it's possible that it melted the chain and caused burns... but the cross didn't vaporize. I suspect the cross is still somewhere near where she was struck, possibly melted but most likely only the chain heated enough to melt.

She is lucky to be alive. But she will have problems in her life from this. Personality changes, memory lapses, etc. are all common with lightning strike victims. I knew a guy (an avid golfer) who was struck twice by lightning in his life, survived both, and has the scars to show for it (and a weird personality and memory issues).

20. Especially in Denver CO

where he was. He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer BEFORE he was hit the first time. Can't imagine what possessed him to put himself into position for strike number 2.
