Protesters face off at rally
Pro-Israel demonstrators show support for military actions as others condemn fighting in Lebanon
BY LORI KURTZMAN | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

BLUE ASH - They want the same thing, they said. They want peace. They want to stop the loss of innocent life. They want to end the terror.

They do not agree, however, on the best way to do that.

That's how a pro-Israel rally Sunday evening in the Blue Ash Towne Square Center turned into a series of heated arguments between about 1,200 people who support Israel's recent military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon and about 200 others who don't.

Insults flew as speakers at a nearby stage carried on at the rally organized by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.

"Liar!" screamed the counter-demonstrators, who carried signs condemning Israel's battle against Hezbollah that has caused the deaths of about 380 Lebanese.

"Terrorist!" shouted back some rally supporters, who say firepower is the only way to take out the militants who threaten Israel's well-being.

1. Uhh, ok
The best way "to stop the loss of innocent life" is to bomb innocent people.

I can't say that I agree

2. Wow
Blue Ash being an upscale and VERY Republican part of town I'm actually surprised they managed to 1400 total willing to go to Towne Square and scream at each other. They usually don't do that kind of thing in that part of town.

3. Nothing like splitting up Americans. Now we can easily be conquered.
For sure we know that it is not the terrorists who have the ability to divide and conquer us.

If any powerful lobby wants to just "takeover" the American government, now is the perfect time.

Part of our country supports American involvement in Israel's military action toward Lebanon.

Part of our country believes that America should let Israel take care of its own affairs and fight its own battles.

Part of the country feels that we should stop supplying arms and weapons and military equipment to any Middle Eastern country, including Israel.

Part of the country feels that we should support Israel right or wrong because it is our friend.

If we don't quickly come together on some sustainable agreement on this problem soon, we will be ripe for the picking.

6. disagree
What would be more frightening is if everyone appeared to "agree" on this issue.

Public debate makes us stronger. This is America at its finest.

7. I am in full agreement with public debate, but at some point, debaters
on a topic as vital as this need to come to some kind of agreement. An agreement that tries to include all the varying opinions.

All the arguing in the world won't help if one strongly unified group steps in and takes control. Just sayin...

5. Personally, I wish all terror was stopped on BOTH sides................
.....but I don't think that will ever happen. So someone has got to do something about Hezbollah/Hamas/Arabs/Muslims/PLO/etc setting off bombs and suicide bombs inside Israel day after day after day.

I just wish the outcry about the terrorist acts inside Israel day after day and month after month had been even half this loud because those terrorist acts would have stopped and quickly. Where was the world's outrage then??
