Oliver Stone in GQ: "Only A Coward Like Bush..." |
|
"a man who could cower behind his name to avoid service, would accuse other people of being a traitor to the US. If Bush had been in combat for only twenty minutes, he would have some compassion in his damn soul, and he wouldn't be such a liar."
Much, much more in the interview (Aug '06 GQ). Stone also addresses the "he's a conspiracy nut" meme. He also talks about his new WTC movie which he says is not a conspiracy movie a la JFK.
There's also a great article on Ralph Reed in this issue titled, "The Sins of Ralph Reed." And, there's an article on what life is like in Iraq these days in which author Jeffrey Gettleman reports, "almost all Iraqis I talked to agree that even the darkest days under Saddam were better than the situation today."
Funny how mags like GQ and Rolling Stone are doing some of the best political reporting these days.

2. We've traded our two papers and teevee news for |
|
GQ, Vanity Fair, TNYer and the net. It's made a lot of difference in the kinds of news we get minus the screaming rightwing bullies.

4. Who would have ever thought that those would be our news sources? |
|
If I had told you those particular publications would be the best investigative news mags in the Country and that it was legal for "News" programs to lie in the 21st Century, oh, twenty years ago, what would you have thought5?

6. I would have had no clue what you were talking about. |
|
I was never in the magazine buying class but when remarried in the 90s, found that they came with the package. :)
Who would have thought, indeed.

but, unlike the "hero" in Kenny Rogers' song, Bush wouldn't actually stand up and fight when it really would count ...

7. Smirky - the candy ass who ran like a scared rabbit when the WTC went down |
|
He cowered in a corner of Air Force One shaking like a leaf until the next day.
A real leader would have been reassuring his country within two or three hours at most.

10. A real Leader would have heeded the many warnings and prevented the attack |
|
in da first place.
A real leader would have accepted the Hart Rudman Commisssions recommendations and not shit canned it...a waste of 3 years of work by a bi lateral group...
Bush is a fake president...no more qualified than Gary Coleman.

15. a real leader like the Bush in the 9/11 tv movie |
|

There is a core group of wonderful devoted people here that have been a joy to associate with. This place has been a Godsend for me, I found it from the Google news crawler in it's beta days. All due to DU's great LBN forum.

12. Fact. If it weren't for DU, the last time there was a tsunami warning |
|
here, I would have had about 15 minutes to pack up cats, dog and hubby. Whew!
As it was, I had an hour and a half to figure out what was going on. That's worth a monthly donation right there!

I also read Vanity Fair...they have excellent political commentary. I never watch t.v. news in any form...they all lie the way I see it. I find DU to be my most trustworthy news source...and I fear I've become addicted to it! I check it several times a day to see what is happening. I need to know when I should "duck and cover".
