Why is everyone so worried about World War 3?
This Israel/Lebanon thing is just a blip. I've got 10 points. This is how Total War is gonna shake down:

1) A radical Islamist coup in Pakistan unseats U.S.-backed military dictator Pervez Musharaaf.
2) Fighting intensifies in Kashmir, with Afghan and Iranian paramilitary fighters joining on the Pakistani side.
3) China sends military aid to India, as it fears Islamic fundamentalism in its own southern provinces.
4) Either Pakistan or India (most likely Pakistan) launches a nuclear strike, which is then returned.
5) China is under the gun to get more heavily involved, and begins air and missile strikes on Pakistan.
6) While the rest of the world's attention is diverted, North Korea invades the South (this is when the U.S. gets involved)
7) China is torn -- N. Korea is the traditional ally, but the fear of fundamentalism is great. They allow the U.S. to bomb the fuck out of N. Korea.*
8) China decides this is the right time to annex Taiwan.*
9) The Arab countries of the Middle East decide that this is the right time to destroy Israel.
10) Total war in Asia, as the United States, South Korea, Israel, Japan, and the PRC fight against Islamic countries, both fundamentalist and moderate. Although neither Egypt nor Indonesia is fundamentalist in government, their populations will give their leadership little choice but to make war on the infidels. All the lives and gold spent on Iraq will be proven wasted as the government collapses, the North is absorbed into Turkey, the West into Syria, and the South and East into Iran. Turkey is the potential gateway into Europe. Russia joins the fight as the former SSRs in the Islamic South join the fray.

*These are key. China and the U.S. need to stay out of each other's way in order for the world not to end. I believe they will let us have North Korea, and I believe we will let them have Taiwan in exchange. Peace in our time.

All right, here's the rundown:

The Good: Okay, there's nothing that's actually "good." More lives will be lost in this world war than in the first two combined. Even if you include the millions slaughtered at home by Hitler and Stalin. The final toll may DOUBLE the first two world wars. But, as long as none of us does anything stupid like join the Army, we Asshats will likely all survive. Once again, it looks like fighting will occur away from the shores of the Americas.

The Bad: As I mentioned above. Wholesale bloodletting. Maybe half a billion people killed. Depending upon how many warheads Pakistan actually has, maybe more. This war will also likely go on longer than WWI or WWII. Land war in Asia, and all....

The Ugly: The former Soviet Socialist republics from the Crimean to the Chinese/Mongolian region. These countries will likely join against the US/PRC/Russia. These countries still have nuclear missiles pointed at the United States. Granted, they may not work all too well anymore, but still. Additionally, this WILL be a war of the West vs. Islam. No matter how long the war lasts, no matter the result, the repurcussions will continue for decades if not centuries. There could be the possibility of a coup in Turkey (aided by foreign fighters, to be sure), bringing the battle into the heart of Europe.

Enjoy your lunch, kiddos! :hi::D:toast::loveya:

1. Wasn't that the plot to a Tom Clancy Bush?
Anyway you left of the appearance of the shape-changing skrulls who have secretly manipulated us to blow ourselves up.

2. We have to have it at some time,
so at this point I would just as soon get on with it and get it over with so we can get back to the business of life.

11. but control of the world's oil is still their ultimate objective-
and they view a war to gain the control as ultimately being inevitable- and a FANTASTIC money-making opportunity- perhaps the last great one of their lifetimes.

look for them to go for it.

3. This one ?
Bob Dylan's Talkin' World War III Blues :

Some time ago a crazy dream came to me,
I dreamt I was walkin' into World War Three,
I went to the doctor the very next day
To see what kinda words he could say.
He said it was a bad dream.
I wouldn't worry 'bout it none, though,
They were my own dreams and they're only in my head.

I said, "Hold it, Doc, a World War passed through my brain."
He said, "Nurse, get your pad, this boy's insane,"
He grabbed my arm, I said "Ouch!"
As I landed on the psychiatric couch,
He said, "Tell me about it."

Well, the whole thing started at 3 o'clock fast,
It was all over by quarter past.
I was down in the sewer with some little lover
When I peeked out from a manhole cover
Wondering who turned the lights on.

Well, I got up and walked around
And up and down the lonesome town.
I stood a-wondering which way to go,
I lit a cigarette on a parking meter
And walked on down the road.
It was a normal day.

Well, I rung the fallout shelter bell
And I leaned my head and I gave a yell,
"Give me a string bean, I'm a hungry man."
A shotgun fired and away I ran.
I don't blame them too much though,
I know I look funny.

Down at the corner by a hot-dog stand
I seen a man, I said, "Howdy friend,
I guess there's just us two."
He screamed a bit and away he flew.
Thought I was a Communist.

Well, I spied a girl and before she could leave,
"Let's go and play Adam and Eve."
I took her by the hand and my heart it was thumpin'
When she said, "Hey man, you crazy or sumpin',
You see what happened last time they started."

Well, I seen a Cadillac window uptown
And there was nobody aroun',
I got into the driver's seat
And I drove 42nd Street
In my Cadillac.
Good car to drive after a war.

Well, I remember seein' some ad,
So I turned on my Conelrad.
But I didn't pay my Con Ed bill,
So the radio didn't work so well.
Turned on my player-
It was Rock-A-Day, Johnny singin',
"Tell Your Ma, Tell Your Pa,
Our Loves Are Gonna Grow Ooh-wah, Ooh-wah."

I was feelin' kinda lonesome and blue,
I needed somebody to talk to.
So I called up the operator of time
Just to hear a voice of some kind.
"When you hear the beep
It will be three o'clock,"
She said that for over an hour
And I hung it up.

Well, the doctor interrupted me just about then,
Sayin, "Hey I've been havin' the same old dreams,
But mine was a little different you see.
I dreamt that the only person left after the war was me.
I didn't see you around."

Well, now time passed and now it seems
Everybody's having them dreams.
Everybody sees themselves walkin' around with no one else.
Half of the people can be part right all of the time,
Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time
I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
"I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours,"
I said that.

10. It's on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.
I bought that album back in '63 when it came out and last year got the CD cos I've no longer got a deck to play any of my old vinyl.

Had meant to reply earlier but forgot - doh ! :) I had a looksee on Amazon.com for you and you can get a used copy of the CD for $5.

4. Nothing says 'end o' the world' like a Bible-land World War 3 end of the
world.I think anything else would lack a certain pizzaz,a "zing".I sure hope our world leaders will settle for nothing less.

8. But if nukes are used, America will be affected.
Because radioactive waste will be carried by weather systems. Cancer rates will skyrocket, and the number of deaths will be incalculable.

9. Has anyone noticed how excited Faux News is about this?
Last week all the big guns on Faux were yapping about how we were in World War III. Definitely, said O'Lielly. The big, ugly blonde guy with funny glasses said the same thing. I remember being appalled. This is not a term we should be using lightly.

But I guess if Faux wants WW III, * and friends will be happy to oblige.

Yikes, what a mess. And Condi sniffs about shuttle diplomacy and won't talk with terrorists. It's good to know our government wants the entire world to blow itself up.

:scared:
