Rumor - "The Hammer Is Going To Drop" At FNC (Faux)
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Who's out at Fox News? The tip box is anonymous...

Anonymous e-mail on Friday: "The hammer is going to drop at FNC NY in the next couple of days... some on-air staff will definitely be on their way out the door."

Anonymous e-mail on Saturday: "At FNC this week about 5-6 people announced they were leaving the network. What's happening at Fox?"

Anonymous e-mail on Sunday: "I hear Foxcaster Chris Knowles got fired from FNC... he's also husband of Kiran Chetry."

Tryout?: Ingraham Subs For O'Reilly

When Bill O'Reilly needs a night off, he usually turns to John Kasich or John Gibson (or, until April, Tony Snow). But on Friday, FNC tried a new sub: Laura Ingraham.

As TVNewser previously reported, the talk radio host shot a pilot for FNC last month. (It was one of several pilots under consideration at the time.) Should we read anything into the fact that Ingraham subbed for O'Reilly on Friday?

I was thinking, "yeah, so what."

2. one of my favorite
air america shows is the young turks show

on the rightwing side, ingraham's is the only one with the same sort of humour

i'm not sure if she 'translates' to tv, but she has >>> charisma than gibson or kasich

and like it or not, in teevee land charisma and that sort of stuff means a lot

5. Oh, Sweet Jesus ...
Ingram ??? I saw that Friday and thought, "amazingly these clowns found someone in Ingram, with her terminatoresque shrillness who was even less palatable than O'Reilly's deluded arrogance ..."

Since The Young Turks are on Sirius (not Air America), and Ingram's radio voice would make a dog go deaf...

20. No one is lying!
For pete's sake! People may be mistaken, they may be incorrect, you might disagree but how in God's name can you make such a ludicrous claim? Chill out, if you had some class you would retract that and apologize to Dancing Bear.

23. my bad
you are correct

mistaken, not lying

i do hate to be accused of thangs, and overreacted

which happens every time (accusatory posts) i make a post that doesn't seem to pass the politburo's inspection process

if i think laura ingram is funny, i MUST be some sort of freeper shill because nobody else could think such a thing

this gets really tiresome

it's happening over and over again here to others, and not just to me

is it more interesting to actually have discussions, exchange of ideas, etc. or to just conspiratorially accuse everybody who does not have ideological purity, of being shill?

regardless, you are correct. i should not have accused OP of lying. that is my bad, and i apologize

28. I get very wound up myself.
It is easy if you are a passionate person, as you obviously are. I saw from your post on the shooting incident that you have an interesting background. Were you a Seattle Police Officer? I was wondering if those guys were shooting 9MM which I could easily believe bouncing off that dog's skull. I have read of it bouncing off Russian's frozen overcoats on the Eastern Front in WW2. I thought 40 Cal was universally the weapon of choice among Peace Officers now. I am old and cannot see, 12 Ga. is my weapon of choice now.

3. Isn't their lineup a little long in the tooth?
I don't know, I don't watch, but, I hear the same names over and over, and I've heard their ratings have sucked for the last two years, so a shakeup would be in order.

10. Their audience as well is long in the tooth
In the key demo of under 54 yrs old they've been bleeding viewers while Olbermann and some of the CNN shows have been making gains. O' Reilly especially audience is literally dying off!

11. Ailes was making noise that they had gotten too comfortable
and stale. Don't know about the not conservative enough. Their audience as I made a point in a previous post is getting older and their bleeding the key demo (under 54) viewers that the advertisers court.

22. They get them all wound up & their blood pressure soars!
In that particular demographic, that's not a good thing. They are literally killing off their viewers they desperately need to tone down the rhetoric to retain their ratings.

18. I'm betting Gibson and Hannity are gone
Hannity's ratings have been dropping like a rock... he's too damn annoying to listen to.

Gibson is just too stupid and ludicrous to tolerate, even by RWers.

25. I hope John Gibson gets the axe (or hammer)
He's such a dumbass. The other night he was talking with the wife of a missing soldier and the interview went something like:

John: How do you feel about your husband missing?
Wife: I miss him terribly. He's my soulmate.
John: What do you mean by soulmate?

Does he come up with this shit himself, or does he have an earpiece like B*sh?

26. What say they sack the whole news/analysis division and just play
Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Duke Ellington, Byrd, James Taylor, the Allman Brothers, the Beatles, Nina Simone, the Stones, the Who, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Bach fugues, Miles Davis, and Gordon Lightfoot 24/7.

Everyone can add their own favorite musicians to that playlist, but the point is we should just insist on their sacking the news division en masse.

30. More Corporate Downsizing
It's been a tough time for broadcast and cable companies. Advertising bucks have shrunk and long-term debts keep digging NewsCorp and other large corporates into further financial mess. That's a good thing in the long run as they'll face a fate similar to the airlines were they'll have to divest and then the bottom falls out of their stock prices and leads to further divesting. But, it also means a cheaper, shriller and more sensationalitic TV.

MSNBC brought in Dan Abrams to downscale that operation. The prime time will once again be mostly retreads of Dateline and other NBC News "investigative" (exploitive/tabloid) shows that will draw bigger "numbers" than hard news and costs a lot less to produce or manufacture. Faux has lost a lot of its cable sports business and the News audience has shrunk over the past two years...its taking its toll, but it's not gonna be a high profile face like an O'Reilly or Hannity...it'll be an underling...a producer here, a writer or two there and a bunch of the smaller fish.

If anything, I see the Ingraham experiment as the latest attempt to turn this sow into a silk purse. 10 years ago Imus saw some "promise" in this babe and had her set up to do a show adjacent to his on MSNBC. The show was abysmal...not just because the show was rabid Clinton-hate (Faux eats that stuff alive), but her video presence is zero. She has no charisma or even an engaging personality. She's got a "face for radio". But then Faux is catering to the hate radio crowd. This is the next step...combining radio and TV talk shows.

She'd fit right in with the screamers. They could axe Greta and have Melanie follow Hannity.
