2006- So Long, Republicans! (Good News 7/24/2006)
Periodically I make "good news" posts summing up all of the good things that have been happening in the progressive community lately. I'm not going to do that right now, but I would like to take the time to point out all of the Republicans that will definitely NOT be returning/coming to office next year. Rejoice!

United States Senate

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist- Retiring

Possibly running for president, but definitely not leading the Senate next year.

Senator Rick Santorum R-PA - Getting a beatdown

If Rick can score even 45% in his Bob Casey Beatdown, then I'll suddenly be a monkey's uncle!

Governors

Mike Huckabee (Arkansas)

Bill Owen (Colorado)

Jeb Bush (Florida)

Jim Risch (Idaho)

Mitt Romney (Massachusetts)

Kenny Guinn (Nevada)

George Pataki (New York)

Bob Taft (Ohio)

Of these, Mike Huckabee, Bob Taft, and George Pataki are most likely to be replaced by Democrats at the moment.

House of Representatives

Tom Delay, Texas District 22, resigned June 9, 2006 after being indicted.

Katherine Harris- retiring to lose a Senate race...

and 18+ others

Best of luck leaving America alone!

DB

1. Ritter will be the next governor of Colorado
Unless we're Diebold'd

Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Bill Ritter would probably defeat Republican opponent Bob Beauprez if the election were held today, according to a poll conducted for The Denver Post.

But Ritter's edge is slim, leading Beauprez by only 7 percentage points, with 42 percent to the Arvada congressman's 35 percent. The poll, conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Nearly one-fourth of the 625 people polled were unsure whom they would support in November. Those undecided voters are divided almost equally between genders and political affiliations.

In other words, it's anyone's game.

"The bottom line is that most voters aren't yet tuned in to the race in a meaningful way, and the ad wars and TV ugliness hasn't even come close to starting," said political analyst Eric Sondermann. "This shows where these two candidates are coming out of the gate."

The results are almost identical to a poll conducted for The Post in February, which showed Ritter leading Beauprez 43 percent to 37 percent.

2. You forgot Governor Goodhair of Texas.
He'll be voted out of office, I just know it. THAT will signal to me that the people are waking up.

Hey Mr. Dean, spend some bucks here in Texas! We're part of the 50 states!

Please oh pretty please?:headbang:
