CIA: No One In Bush Admin Stripped Of Security Clearance Over Plame Leak
No security clearances revoked over Plame By TONI LOCY, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - No one in the Bush administration has been stripped of security clearances over the leak of former CIA officer Valerie Plame's identity to reporters three years ago.

In a letter to Sen. Frank Lautenberg (news, bio, voting record), D-N.J., the CIA said it had no record of anyone in the administration who is no longer privy to the nation's most sensitive secrets because of the Plame leak.

The CIA also revealed it has not yet completed a formal assessment of the damage to national security that may have been caused by Plame's outing in 2003.

The assessment won't be completed until a criminal investigation of the leak has been concluded, Christopher J. Walker, the CIA's director of congressional affairs, said in the July 19 letter to Lautenberg.

2. I believe Fitz is very thorough
And I don't really believe the investigation is completely over.

Only Fitz knows, and he's not talking, yet.

17. It Is Put Up Or Shut Up Time For Fitz
Frankly, I am disappointed with the underperformance of Fitzgerald. And I think the Wilson's think the same thing. Why else would they be moving forward at this time with their civil suit against a whole host of Bush administration officials. The proof is in the pudding and this pudding is pretty darn thin.

18. Statute of limitations was running out
From my reading, the Wilson's filed when they did, because of the statute of limitations

9. i think it will be a "blemish" on fitzgerald's record if he doesn't
come up with anything and then the cia does it's assessment and discovers there was plenty of damage done to national security

if that happens fitz won't look very good

10. That's BULLSHIT,
If you test "Dirty" on a drug screen, lie, and pass classified documents around, you would BE FIRED!!!

But I have seen rear admirals send parts of classified documents through AOL.

Par for the course.

So why do people put themselves through all that bullshit to get a security clearance anyway?

Just wondering??

My guess is that you can raise your dollar per hour rate substantially

11. Well, Duh
It has only been three full years since Plame was outed by numerous Bush administration officials. You have to remember that this is the same crew that responded to Katrina so effectively and recently has responded to Lebanon so well. They obviously need more time.

What is silly is that the longer they fail to act (do anything) the longer it is a newsworthy item and the worse they look. It also works against them in the November elections.

But is also shows how totally corrupt this administration. While the CIA Director serves at the pleasure of the President the CIA Director should be spared having to dance to Karl Rove's tune. Gen. Hayden promised Congress he would be independent but this shows he too is foot dragging at the behest of Karl Rove.

Our system of government has suffered a breakdown and the only way to restore order is to bring in a new team. Will the American people get it?

12. It's said that the wheels of justice turn slowly,
but it's beginning to feel like heel draggin' to me.

Maybe Fitz will wind it up right after the '08 election???!!!

16. Footdragging Is An Understatement
I am beginning to have my doubts about Fitzgerald as well. He has clearly underperformed. The Wilson's understand this. That is why they are taking civil actions against a whole slew of Bush administration officials.

15. Cheney was behind the outing of V. Plame and
Brewster Jennings. It is going to be tough to prove it legally because the trail has been brushed
with a large broom.
