Due to the media panic, the order books at Roche today are filled to overflowing. Roche recently refused a request from the US Congress to lift its exclusive patent rights to allow other drug manufacturers to produce Tamiflu. "

"In 1997, Donald H Rumsfeld was named Chairman of the Board of Gilead Sciences, where he remained until early 2001 when he became Defence Secretary in Bush’s Cabinet. Rumsfeld had been on the board of Gilead since 1988. He is also a major, if not the largest, stockholder in Gilead Sciences Inc. His 2004 financial disclosure indicates that he owned between 5 and 25 million dollars in equity in Gilead as of Dec 31, 2004. Since then he has sold some of his holdings. Next year’s disclosure will show the value range of any remaining holdings Rumsfeld stands to make a fortune on royalties as governments scramble to buy this company's drug."

Now this is a scandal easy to understand.
The WH scares us with a pandemic that can only be cured by a medicine made by a company in which Rummy has a large stake. Probably just a coincidence.

I wonder how they define conflict of interest--lets see, he makes tons of money off of fear based on information he helps provide while working for the government that is buying the products. Duh!

Wouldn't you know, the company then goes a releases a big sales drug that had a lot a side effects because it was rushed to market and not tested properly.

Doctors were given scare tactics to prescribe the drug, told that it sured things that it didin't, and it was even MANDATED by some state institutions like school and jails.

That drug is Prozac.

It is only a matter of time til ALL the money laundering schemes (removing taxpayer dollars from US treasury and placing into their own and their "buddies" pockets) come to light. Of course, the #1 is still the Iraqi "washing machine" but I've wondered why more HMO, drug company, insurance company schemes haven't been found. Nice to see this one! kinds are what this administration is using to keep from being impeached, indicted and convicted of all kinds of crimes. Rumsfeld's DRUG connections are EXTREMELY relevant in the overall scheme of things AND the fact that more Americans are likely to die from freezing to death (thanks to inflated ... more money in buddie's pockets ... fuel prices) this year than any effects of "bird flu."
