46. That's the problem. As John Dean argues in his last book,
there's a core of brain damaged prisoners (okay, my words) that will believe anything they say.

They believe no child was left behind.

They believe we shocked and awed Iraq

They believe Bush created Healthy Skies.

They define "true believer".

I am not one to subscribe to the idea that Americans are stupid or lethargic or apathetic. But, there does appear to be a small core that would believe Tony Snow if he said that the Resident has the Tooth Fairy's support on nuking Manhattan. And that, wordpix2, is scary.

18. A question for Cheney and his 'disciples'
From Newark Star-Ledger columnist Paul Mulshine:
Before these clowns drag George W. into the next adventure, I would like to ask the following question: Did any neocon ever make a single accurate prediction of what was to occur after we invaded Iraq? If so, I am unaware of it, and I have compiled a vast and very amusing list of their utterances.

23. wow, Geo Will calling neocons radical and dissing Bill Kristol. Amazing!
:bounce:
snip:

Kristol's exuberance at the Mideast mess was too much for George Will. The other day, the Washington Post columnist termed Kris tol's views "so untethered from reality as to defy caricature." Will, a traditional conservative, went on to proclaim neoconservatism "a spectacularly misnamed radicalism." :applause:

22. Cheney/Bush have given us two collossal foreign policy
Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 07:39 PM by joemurphy
blunders:

1. They gave us Iraq - a war of choice that was founded upon the propaganda lie that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction, was a threat to the United States, and was working in league with Al-Qaeda. Bush, Cheney, and Rice were prime instigators of this disastrous action. The real aim was to secure American control over Iraq's oil and install a docile, pro-U.S. pro-Israel "democratic" government in Iraq. Over 100,000 Iraqis have died as a result of this adventure. 2500+ Americans have died, many thousands have lost legs, arms, and manhood. The war has drained our treasury. Iraq now has descended into sectarian violence. The country is controlled by brigands, fanatics, and militias. It more closely resembles Somalia than any other country on earth.

2. They gave us the Israeli incursion into Lebanon - another war of choice openly sanctioned and materially abetted by Bush, Cheney and Rice. This war too is founded upon a propaganda lie - that it is all about Israel's "legitimate right to self-defense" and was prompted by Hezbollah's "kidnapping" of two Israeli soldiers. In fact the war was planned for over 5 years and was timed to coincide with a Neoconservative challenge to Syrian and Iranian power in the Mideast. By sanctioning this war, abetting the Israelis, and then ignoring UN, EU, Vatican, and Arab calls for a cease fire, the US has lost any reputation it once had for being a peaceloving and humanitarian nation. In its early stages, this war has created 700,000 refuges, destroyed Lebanon's infrastructure, created more animosity for both the U.S. and Lebanon, and only strengthened Hezbollah's popularity and recruiting capability. It has also created another source of terror that Americans will have to be concerned about -- Hezbollah and the Hezbollah clones that will be spawned from this senseless violence.

Hopefully there will be no more foreign policy disasters before 2008 implemented by the Bush-Cheney-Rice troika. But it's early and 2008 is still two years off. They have plenty of time to do more damage.

Given the state they've allowed America to rot into, maybe we'd prefer the risks of being blown up compared to the certainty of starving and rotting to death?
