Mexico-Native LA Soldier Granted Citizenship In Washington
LOS ANGELES -- President George W. Bush on Monday praised a 21-year-old soldier from Los Angeles, who was granted citizenship at a Washington ceremony, as "a man of action" who was determined to walk again after being wounded in Iraq.

Pfc. Eduardo Leal-Cardenas, a native of Mexico, was one of three immigrant soldiers honored at the naturalization ceremony.

The Army private broke his back and neck and shattered both legs in an IED explosion in Baghdad Dec. 6. Leal-Cardenas was thrown from a vehicle while his unit was returning from a mission just south of Baghdad, according to the White House.
