8. It was suggested yesterday

on DU that we call CNN sponsors and hit them where it hurts. I think that's a good idea too. They even posted a list of their sponsors but I don't where the post is now.

In my letter to CNN, I told them I was boycotting their sponsors. While I was writing it, I was thinking "Now if only I knew who their sponsors were...."

9. I heard Glenn Beck talking about this...

...on his radio program yesterday.

I had no idea CNN hired him. He discussed a new "prime-time show" on which he would be featured.

Curiously, Beck said that he wouldn't be doing any "left, right stuff" on the new prime-time show. He quipped--that he screws up the left/right stuff for three hours during his radio program--so he'll be doing something entirely different in prime time.

So....what will he be doing?

(Forgive me if I misunderstood Beck's comments. I was listening in the car, and I may have misunderstood. However, I'm fairly certain this is what I heard).

15. My complaint to CNN

Here's the e-mail I just sent to CNN. It is beyond belief that they would put this guy on the air. Glenn Beck is truly the poster boy for what is wrong with America!

I urge everyone to let CNN know how they feel about this decision.


Why is CNN giving a media platform to professional hatemonger Glenn Beck?

Has anyone at CNN seen the film "Hotel Rwanda"? Glenn Beck is little better than the Rwandan radio announcers who urged their fellow Hutus to go out and kill Tutsis.

I do not mean this figuratively-- I mean this literally. Here is just one of the more famous examples, from the May 17, 2004 broadcast of The Glenn Beck Program:

BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.

I guarantee there will be boycotts against advertisers on this show, and that the decision to give Glenn Beck a place on CNN will give CNN's journalistic reputation a serious black eye.

PLEASE reconsider this decision.

I've been fighting them for years, but it has only gotten worse. Please, by all means continue calling them and complaining, but I've decided on another tactic:

Completely ignore them except to make fun of them. When I'm talking to idiot right wing nutjobs and they tell me CNN is a "liberal propaganda station, " I say "YES! YOU ARE RIGHT!! DAMN THOSE LIBERAL BASTARDS!!! LET'S CALL THEM NIGHT AND DAY AND HARASS THEM! HAHAHA!!!"
