Go home Condoleezza, says Arab press
http://www.lebanonnews.net/story/abfa16454bddd342

'Go home Condoelezza' was the main headline of the normally conservative UAE daily newspaper, Gulf News, on Monday.

The unusually blunt headline was matched with an equally blunt article below it. The sub-headline read, "Rice comes visiting the Middle East with heavy baggage, U.S. smart bombs and Israeli propaganda."

"Arabs are normally known for hospitality," said Gulf News, "but they do not want her here, it will be futile."

"Claims of impartiality are not credible, Arab patience has grown thin, her bias and a U.S. agenda driven by Israel, is there for all to see," said the editorial

3. Ouch
Even Kissinger, visiting on behalf of Nixon, didn't get treated like that. Sigh. If the Arab world trusts you less than it trusted Kissinger, I don't see the point in keeping that job.

13. Here's Lebanon's Daily Star
http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=10&categ_id=17&article_id=74228
<snip>
After aggressively supporting Israel's siege of Lebanon - a brutal military campaign that has threatened the very existence of the Lebanese state - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice came to Beirut to profess American "support" for the Lebanese government. Rice's arrival in Beirut - but failure to demand an immediate cease-fire - was not seen by many here as a sincere show of concern for their alarming humanitarian situation.

it is promising that Rice's talks addressed the whole package of concerns that have long plagued the Lebanese-Israeli front. These issues include Israel's air, land and sea incursions into Lebanese territory, which have occurred nearly every day since its withdraw from South Lebanon in 2000; the decades-long occupation of the Shebaa Farms; and the detention of Lebanese citizens in Israeli jails. Addressing these and other core issues will be a prerequisite to any lasting resolution of the Lebanon-Israel file.

22. On the other hand
If she is stupid enough to be flattered into hanging around, Israel will not be bombing- at least until they lose patience with making her look good.

She makes a great human shield of a sort.
