"I''m over that, now." My 12 years olds response to terra, terra, terra. |
|
I was speaking with my 12 year old son, and he asked me what year was 9/11. He was only 8 at the time, and I asked him if he remembered all that was going on. He said he remembered his teachers and the news talking about the terraist and that he was worried at the time, but not anymore. He said he knew an attack could happen anytime, but that he ( and his school age friends) were not really worried about it anymore, and why did the POTUS keep talking about it if it only made people scared?

1. Geez, even the 12-year olds get it |
|
How can you explain what's really going on?
It must give him a bad view of government.
Just explain to him that not all politicians are like him (thank the Goddess) and there were once decent and honorable people in control.

2. Think of it this way... |
|
Your son is more level-headed about the "war on terror" than about 50 million adults in this country.

We know our children are brighter than this administration. How sad!

7. That he was trying to keep us scared to justify his war in Iraq, and |
|
because he wants to justify taking away our civil liberties. That this is just another way to cover all of his failed policies ( like medicare for the old folks, social security, Katrina, Rita....) and that we, as americans, have the right to question his authority, and elect a new POTUS every four years...to change the things that don't work. My son is a G/T child, and really very intelligent. I truly think he is our hope for the future.

9. I applaud your honesty and it sounds as if you have given strength |
|
in these times of fear. Luck kid. As Gore pointed out in his speech, remind him that this current terra is nothing compared to the past terrors this Nation faced with Civil War, WW1, WW2, and our leaders sought to join us together in unity to courage. This Commander in thief has done nothing like that. The current threat is nothing compared to the past, the threat of terror has never been used to this extent. Ask why. You rock. Adopt.

6. Great perspective. I wonder what Republicans do |

when their kids say something reasonable like that. Do they tell them that they're probably going to be killed if they don't think kindly of the all mighty pResident?

and the pubs will spend and steal us into bankruptcy riding the 9-11 fear train if we let them. We all know that a terrorist strike could happen any time, anywhere, and all the money spent and vigilance while to a certain degree necessary, can't and won't competely stop it from ever happening. No matter which party is in power.
