Let's play "Guess Bush's approval in your state!" - SurveyUSA just in
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 12:21 AM by Grebrook
We tend to spend a lot of time on DU being angry about the current jackass occupying the White House. In the spirit of fun, I say we play a little game of "Guess Bush's new drowning approval rating in your state" that will correspond to every new batch of SurveyUSA state-by-state poll listings which comes out every month. July's came out a few days ago. So, take a breath from the debate about Israel-Lebanon and check the numbers to cheer yourself up (Unless you happen to live in Utah, Idaho or Wyoming, the last three states where the majority of the voters are apparently either drunk or on cocaine):

http://www.surveyusa.com/50State2006/50StateBushApproval060718Approval.htm

Out here in Blue-New-Jersey I guessed Bush would have about a 30% approval. Turned out to be 31% approval, 68% disapproval.

That makes New Jersey the 1rst most densely populated state, the 4th smallest and, most important of all, the 8th most anti-Bush state in the country. Here's to NJ pride! :)

Just because of Colorado Springs, AKA "Jesusland".

Edit: It's 38% which seems really high to me, but I live in Denver which is probably closer to 30% approval.

36. Look what has happened in the states that went for * in 2004.
Ohio gives * by far the lowest approval ratings of any state that he "won" in 2004. Almost as if he didn't really win here somehow. Hmm.

62. Every major city went for Kerry . . . yet Bewsh still wins.
NOT buying it. Our red counties are mostly rural and not heavily populated. They couldn't have made up for THAT much of a difference.

And why was this election even close anyway?

See that Ohio is the lowest in Red Statery for reversal margin. Doesn't bode well for DeSwine or especially Crackwell's chances. They'd NEED to steal it, as far behind their Democratic opponents as they are.

I guessed that WV's approval rating would be 40% . . .
but it was only 37% -- the lowest ever. West Virginia's approval rating for Bush exactly matches the weighted average for the country. If only my fellow Mountaineers had had this much sense 20 months ago!

22. What reporting?
If you are talking about the local news, it is just that...local. Otherwise, we are seeing the same thing here on MSM channels. As far as the papers, they're not reporting anything differently than most other local papers. My guess is that most the folks around here are too involved with themselves. I see patients all day and they wait for long periods of time in the waiting room for various procedures. I don't hear them discussing what is going on in the world.

I moved up to Sonoma county when rents got crazy in Marin. People talk about getting Israel and Hezbollah to talk to each other, but the real 21st century challenge to peace, in my mind, is figuring out how to get Sonoma and Marin to agree on that friggin' sales tax for the train. Give peace a chance!

15. I'll guess 48% approval, as Nebraska is the fifth reddest state...
...last I checked.

We're at 45% Dubya approval?

Some of this could be due to right wing media clowns going on about Dubya supposedly not being "con-servative" enough.

Asking about the level of support for the evil movement that calls itself conservative, or for the republican party, might be more indicative of where they're at.

Either that, or election results.

25. A word or two in behalf of Northern Virginia and Rhode Island
Northern Virginia went 53-47% for Kerry in 2004. One year later it went 65%-32% for Kaine (D) over a Pat Robertson clone. The overall Virginia 43%-55% for * is not reflective of "the new Marin County." We loathe him, not a little, great deal. It's a reflexive greeting, "Did you see what that idiot did today?" It's taken the place of "How are you" or the more common "Wuz up."

Now for Rhode Island...what a place 23%-75%. I say we give them an extra Senator. Lets institute a "standing pardon" for any may of Providence, and waive income tax for all of them for a year. Thank you state of true wisdom.

Since it makes up such a large percentage of the population, we see the resultant poll numbers..

However, there are still plenty of conservative hotbeds throughout the state. This needs to change as there has been a trend towards repubs at the local level..

60. I'm giving it all I got captain!
Good morning. First, a word of "thanks" for DU's coverage of our impeachment efforts early on in our campaign. You may know me as the progressive Democratic RI US Senate candidate with the cajones to display the "Be Patriotic Impeach Bush" billboard along I-95. This message buzzed through the blogosphere and the netroots had briefly adopted our efforts as their own. It has garned the support of David Swanson and Bob Fertig among others... For this we are grateful.

Often what has been lost, as this billboard remains six months later with tens of thousands of dollars spent to do so, is that it was a national rallying point of like minded citizens to ensure the rights and laws of Our Constitution were preserved and protected as every elected official and military service personnel swears an oath to do; hence, it's presence in the background of the billboard.

The bipartisan panel of the American Bar Association and Sen. Arlen Specter (PA - R) have also conveyed the executive authority of Bush has been exceeded by abusing the signing letters. This is something we already have known through his other amoral acts.

I wanted to acknowledge your blog and fellow readers for their frequent visits to our campaign website. It is one of the top referring sites.

We have under 50 days until our primary and are making steady progress with many anti-war, antiBush PACs endorsing and supporting our campaign. We don't have the resources of Lamont in neighboring CT; however, we have the supporters and heart.

As an aside, blog princess and anti-war icon, Ava Lowery (15 y/o) has created our first campaign commercial which will begin airing this weekend. We have purchased 220 spots for a two week period, which is a very expensive proposition. It can be previewed at our website at www.carlsheeler.com.

Also, I am humbly asking supporters consider showing their generosity by adopting their little state candidate, and ensuring one of the most achievable US Senate seats be used to stop the GOP control of Congress. It's your senate seat as well as Rhode Island's.

Keep up the good fight...

Fellow DU'er

Carl
Sheeler... a working US Senator
