Poll question: Which Is More Loathsome? War For Religion or War For Profit? |
|
If you could wave your hand and abolish just one type of warfare, which one would it be?
OR
Religion or profit?

14. Naw, I would prefer to just get rid of both of them. |

Especially in light of the fact that they are both inextricable linked.

you can potentially make it profitable to NOT make war. Someone totally blinded into thinking God wants him to kill is a little harder to sway.

The history of most religious wars show there was economics behind it one way or another.

7. To me, this is two different questions. |
|
Your subject line asks which is more dispicable, but the poll asks which I would wave my hand to do away with.
War for profit is more dispicable, because at least people who fight war for religion believe in something (or at least claim to). But war for profit is just sick beyond words.
However, if I could wave my hand to make one type go away, I would do away with war for religion, because that seems to be the only way to stop it.

war for profit is at least rational and can be addressed through policy and politics
war for religion is just mass insanity, with no remedy.

because even the sheep won't fight to make the rich richer. They have to be convinced that gawd's on their side and he's been insulted by those other folks.

11. So I'd still have to say religion, because if people can't be made |
|
to fight for religion, then the profiteers will get fewer wars.
