3. Got a $0.00 statement from my oil company last week ... |
|
Could hardly fight the temptation to send a cheque for $0.00 - but figured they'd be stupid enough to deposit it with their other cheques, and my bank would find some reason to charge me for 'processing' it.

5. But if you don't pay it they'll charge you a late fee |
|
:P
I'm only kind of kidding. A few years ago they sent me a statement for -0.21. I only had them for long distance and had stopped using them, having switched to dialing 10-10-220. The next statement they charged that balance state and local taxes. A few statements later the balance had climbed to slightly over a dollar and they were including warnings about my overdue balance. I called them and read them the riot act, told them to cancel any account they had on record for me and not to send me anything else or I would turn over everything to an attorney. They stopped.
When they merged with SBC this year I once more found myself paying AT&T. I detest them like no other; prior to the above idiocy they had completely screwed up my broadband and cable TV service during the brief periods I used them as my provider. When I move later this year I will switch to another phone provider and see if I can successfully cut them out of my life again.

7. Pay it (I'm not kidding) |

Send them a check for 0.00. Keep a photocopy.
Because believe it or not, these people are so fucked up that you may end up getting a call from a collection agency.

9. Well, on the bottom where you tear off the "payment coupon" |

in the place where you normally put in "amount enclosed", it has "Do Not Pay" printed in the box... :eyes:
