SOUTH MISSISSIPPI. The rest of the country is getting scorched but we have had four days of good rain in a row down here. Current temp at 2:10 central time - 81 degrees. I gotta mow bad.

1. They keep saying the rain is coming |
|
For the last two days they've been calling for 60 - 80% chance but in reality you could have planned anything outdoors if you could stand the heat. Less than 1/8th inch. on my rain gage. Currently reading 95.7F, bright and sunny.

That's like 3 of us -- who will admit it, anyway. Take heart, it's only supposed to be 109 degrees tomorrow. :nuke:

5. Wow, Mississippi is lucky. |

Our really hot weather is gone for now, but the dewpoint is so high, I still have the A/C on.
Sorry for you who are suffering in the 100s.

We are enjoying it. An old shipmate of mine lives in Lexington near Columbia. He has run one of the high school NJROTC programs for the past few years and I think they have surpassed his last nerve. When I do get to mow we'll have a nice infusion of fresh natural sourced nitrogen in the lawn.

11. Came down from the triple digits last week in Missouri |
|
Now we're only at 93 degrees. We're sadly lacking in rain though, not as bad as last summer, but dry none the less.
Fall can't come soon enough for me. And I'm praying for a long, wet, really cold winter here. We've had two very mild, dry winters here, and not only does the water table need to be recharged with snow melt, but we need a massive bug kill-off. We're being overrun with mosquitos and ticks, along with the diseases that they carry.

My old home state certainly has definitive summers and definitive winters. I had the pleasure of driving up old highway 71 from Alma to Fayetteville one crisp cool morning earlier this year. What an incredibly beautiful and peaceful drive.
curently at our homestead 50 miles northeast of New Orleans: 79 degrees, 69% humidity with slight drizzle. Fairly normal weather pattern this time of year when the rains sweep over us from the gulf, both from the east and west.
Go Hogs Go and I hope you stay cool.

16. Yeah, it's a nice break |
|
But I have to do kennel work this afternoon and mud + dogs = me coming home soggy and smelling like wet dog poop. I guess you gotta make some sacrifices for coolness.
