Mideast in Crisis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Israel has been attacking Gaza and Lebanon for more than a week now because Hamas and Hezbollah killed some Israeli soldiers and captured some others. In its attempt to root out terrorists, Israel has bombed infrastructure, killed rebels, killed innocent civilians, including some Canadians, and displaced thousands of Lebanese citizens.
Israel may kill some terrorists and slow down their mission but members of Hamas and Hezbollah will simply melt into the general population, regroup and wait for another time to get back at Israel.
Killing terrorists is like swatting flies. You can kill many flies but you will not eliminate them from the planet.
In fact, the current Israeli action, which many people are calling an overreaction, has inflamed many Muslims who may now swell the ranks of terrorist groups to get back at Israel and its supporters. snip
The Palestinian issue won't go away just because Israel has won this battle. Palestinians will continue to fight for their cause, Muslims around the world will continue to support them and the cycle of violence and madness will probably continue until Palestinians get a homeland.
