CNN/Reuters: Israeli airstrike kills four UN observers
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 04:25 PM by Karmadillo
Will update as more information becomes available. The reporter for CNN made sure to say this is merely a claim. The UN is trying to recover the casualties. Given the makeup of the observer force, it's likely, per the reporter, the casualties were Europeans.

Reuters (per CNN): Four observers killed.

9. No, it will just cause the UN to pull out
so there will be fewer witnesses to the atrocities.

13. Do you believe for one moment that Israel is going to commit genocide?
If you do, re-examine which group is advocating genocide.

16. Israel could kill tens of thousands a day if it wanted to.
Genocide is the targeted killing of a specific group because of their race, religion, ethnicity, etc with the intent to destroy it. Israel simply uses a lot of firepower and innocents do happen to die in these wars.

Hezbollah on the other hand is targeting civilian areas for the expressed purpose of maximum casualties with a goal of destroy the Israeli nation and people. Who is actually the genocidal group here?

3. How long has the outpost been there?
If it was a make-shift observer post recently set up, it would be one thing. But if its presence had been there for years, that would be another.

4. Israeli shell hits UN base in S. Lebanon
<snip>

"An Israeli aerial bomb destroyed a base run by a U.N. observer force in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, causing casualties, a U.N. spokesman said.

"One aerial bomb directly impacted the building and shelter in the base of the United Nations Observer Group in Lebanon in the area of Khiam," said Milos Strugar, spokesman for the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in the area.

"There are casualties among the observers. A UNIFIL dispatched rescue team which is on the spot is still unable to clear the rubble."

10. So is there no plan,
strategy, or communication involved here? Do they just bomb whatever they feel like bombing-ambulances, UN posts, civilians?
