Evan Bayh statement on Israel
The following news release was issued by the office of Indiana Senator Evan Bayh:

"I stand strongly with the people of Israel in their efforts to eliminate the threats to them from Hezbollah, Hamas and their sponsors in Syria and Iran. No nation can be asked to turn the other cheek day after day, when its people are subject to daily missile strikes against civilian targets and cross-border raids that kill and capture its citizens.

"A cease-fire is not enough. Hezbollah operates a mini-state and military in southern Lebanon. It has an arsenal of thousands of missiles and operates outside the control of the Lebanese government, despite United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559 that calls for disarming Hezbollah, removing all foreign forces from Lebanon - including those from Iran - and deploying the Lebanese army to secure the border with Israel. It is the failure of any of the parties mentioned to comply with this resolution that has broken the peace in southern Lebanon and left Israel with no choice but to protect the innocent. Such willful intransigence and continuous wanton efforts undermine efforts of leaders in Israel and Palestine to achieve a lasting peace is unacceptable, as is Iranian and Syrian adventurism intended to foment violence and unrest. For these reasons, the American people and I resolutely support Israel in this fight."

2. Translation:
"I stand strongly by Israel's right to bomb kids and burn them in the face with phosphorous chemical weapons. I stand by Israel's right to murder UN peacekeepers and shoot every civilian in sight. I stand by Israel's right to take out bridges and civilian infrastructure, as well as targeting ambulances and any rescue services trying to alleviate the suffering.

I resolutely support Israel in killing whoever the fuck they want to kill"

3. And you left out this part of Evan Bayh's statement....
<snip>
"At times such as these it is clear that American support for Israel and American leadership in the international community to put meaningful pressure on enemies of peace such as these terrorist groups and their patrons is critical. Stronger steps are required, and that is why I am the original Democratic sponsor of the Iran Freedom Support Act in the Senate and am working with Senator Schumer and others to strengthen the Iran Libya Sanctions Act. I will continue to find other mechanisms to contain these threats to regional peace and American interests."
<end snip>

Well, that bill launched the U.S. into this latest middle east war adventure back on May 4, 2006.

Iran Freedom Support Act to Pass US Senate with 21 Democratic Cosponsors
Filed under: headline news — Lula @ 10:24 am

Thank you to the WhatReallyHappened reader who has alerted me to the fact that Rick Santorum has already introduced the “Iran Freedom Support Act” in the US senate and with 58 cosponsors the vote is only a formality. It turns out we have 21 democrats to thank for this act’s easy passage and wouldn’t you know it the AIPAC website has the list of cosponsors. The following Democrats COSPONSORED this bogus legislation including the infamous Barbara Boxer, known as the only Democrat in the senate to stand up for democracy when challenging the election November 2004.

Daniel Akaka (HI)
Max Baucus (MT)
Evan Bayh (IN)
Barbara Boxer (CA)
Maria Cantwell (WA)
Kent Conrad (ND)
John Corzine (NJ)
Mark Dayton (MN)
Byron Dorgon (ND)
Richard Durbin (IL)
Dianne Feinstein (CA)
Tim Johnson (SD)
Herb Kohl (WI)
Mary Landriew (LA)
Carl Levin (MI)
Joe Lieberman (CT)
Lincoln Blanche (AR)
Barbara Mikulski (MD)
Ben Nelson (NE)
Bill Nelson (FL)
Debbie Stabenow (MI)

I think Green Party senate candidate Rae Vogeler(WI) says it well...

“If the history of the Iraq conflict tells us anything, it is that the results of regime change in Iran will be disastrous,” Vogeler said. “The U.S. economy will slide deeper into debt and possibly recession. The Middle East will slide further into chaos. The U.S. will be further isolated internationally. There will be greater anger among 1.2 billion Muslims from the Middle East to the South Pacific. Oil prices will continue to skyrocket. There will be more pointless death and destruction.”

“I am very concerned, perhaps more than our current administration and Senator Kohl, about the dangers of nuclear proliferation,” added Vogeler. “The U.S has more nuclear weaponry than any other nation. We have ten thousand nuclear war heads and Iran has none. Let’s stop nuclear proliferation by beginning to disarm here at home.”

“Sanctions on Iraq destroyed millions of Iraqi lives,” added Vogeler. “Economic sanctions are the ultimate weapons of mass destruction and the first strike in almost any war.”

I also applaud his efforts to do his part to take back OUR congress. The way things are looking, there is not much hope for change even if we do elect a democratic congress(and that is only if they bother counting our votes next time).I don’t believe the Green Party is necessarily the best method however. There are many Democratic and Republican primaries still open. Many times these traitors to our country continue to get elected without a real challenger. Everyone needs to take the time to find out what is happening in their state and if need be run yourself or at least find a real challenger you can get behind and do everything you can to help them get elected. In the process of this primary and general election season we also need to do everything we can to expose the election fraud that is taking place in this country. Remember the exit polls? Time is running out folks, it is time to take back our country!

Expect more war, more debts, more death and more destruction. War is a Racket.

A few weeks ago I would have went on a rant about Greens and other senseless party "defectors." Now, let's just say my faith in the Democratic Party has been shaken. I don't have a snappy comeback to any Green who says "Umm, 410-8." They've got me there.

4. What's the point of singling out any one Dem on this?
410-8 in the House, voice vote in the Senate. But for a handful, they all suck on this issue. More interested in taking sides and protecting their own political behinds that promoting peace.

In any case, here's an excellent rebuttal to Bayh's statement.

seems to feel the need, as a new member to DU, to educate us about the "opinions that are shared by many leading progressives in the Democratic Party."

Most, if not all, of his OP's are of this nature.

Oh, and he's very 'dispirited' by the amount of anti-Semitism on DU.

One last thing, he's also selective in his quoting techniques.
