Neil Young Backs Al Gore With New Video
Neil Young is endorsing the doings of former Democrat Vice-President Al Gore in his new video ‘After The Garden’.

The video acknowledges that Gore was a visionary who always opposed the war in Iraq which is well documented in his documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. "Al Gore's courageous film will be a lasting document," Young says in a statement, "a proof as years go by that Mr. Gore was right from the start, and willing to go on record. From his direct opposition to the war in Iraq to recognizing and confronting global warming, Mr. Gore has shown himself to be a visionary, standing out among his contemporaries."

Young will make a video for every song from his Living With War album and is performing every track from the album live on the current Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young US tour.

The tour heads to California this week and will end on September 10 in Pittsburgh.

Or am I thinking of someone else?

5. I think he jumps back and forth. I think Sept 11th scared him for awhile.
 Like it did a lot of Americans. Guess he shook that off.

10. Nah
he just was pissed off about 911 and wrote some songs in support of efforts to retaliate or bring the doers to justice. like even alot of dems agree, we did actually belong in afganistan... when it evolved into lies and iraq, then, like most of us, we got pissed off at Bush.

15. Actually, he was even pro-Reagan back in the day.
Politically, he is a mess.

I love most of his records, but his politics are confused.

25. i'll need references for that
I have most neil young albums... can you site a song or line or something that shows he was a big reagan fan? he's always been an advocate for peace and helping the needy as far as I can tell.

26. He said so in interviews
Back in 1985, during his Geffen records years. He said that he liked that Reagan talked tough and so forth. I can recall him saying such things in SPIN, Rolling Stone, and the like.

Hell, just check his song "Welfare Mothers" from the Carter era... his politics have always been unorthodox, and not averse to all right-wing views.

I love Neil, and I know he usually advocates for peace, but he is not as ideologically tidy as some of us would like. After 9-11, he did say we maybe should consider giving up some of our liberties for security.

He can piss me off one moment, and warm my heart the next. Price one pays for being a fan.

29. For starters, here's Neil's self-exculpation
http://www.thrasherswheat.org/ptma/reagan.htm

Another view:

http://alchemi.co.uk/archives/docs/neilyoung2.html

You could always go to www.google.com and enter these terms: "neil young" reagan.

Many of those of us alive then still remember Neil's support of Reagan, just as we remember his support of Bush's clampdown on civil liberties in the months after 9/11.

I love most of his music, but politically he's more mixed up than a dog's dinner.

16. I want to see them....but
$155 for a decent seat....or I could sit on a towel with the mosquitos for $40.

Their market is older...the baby boomers. But some of the boomers have been screwed by these greedy pug/dlc corporate assholes.

Maybe I'll sneak in like I did while in college.

17. go for the lawn seats, they're fine
i never pay the extra for the good seats and i always have a great time. there usually are huge video screens for the lawnfolks. whether you sneak in or pay the $40 for the lawn seats, don't miss it. it's very rare that Neil joins with CSN and it's always worth the trip when he does. i've seen CSN and Neil separately a bunch of times, and together only twice. i'm really looking forward to seeing them this time, still not sure which venue i'm going to.... --------------

20. This Boomer couldn't afford $155....
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion does have lawn seating. But the tour is avoiding Texas--which, in July, August & early September, is a very good idea.

I'll continue to buy his CD's. And I'll support my local musicians by going to their shows. Going out to see live music is good for us oldsters--beats sitting at home & cranking up the old turntable. (Not that there's anything wrong with getting out the LP's of "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere"--or "Buffalo Springfield Again.")

18. a great report from a recent CSNY show
this is copied from a usenet newsgroup, not from me personally:>>>

It was well worth the drive down there from the bay area for the show
last night! CSNY was in fine form and it was great to get my much
needed NEIL FIX! If you like George Bush and you're for the war on
Iraq, your best bet is to stay at home. It was great to hear CSNY
giving their opinions on the war right in the heart of conservative
Fresno! By the time the band began the song Let's Impeach the
President, people were on their feet and cheering!

All in all a great show! I'm thinking about going to the Concord show
tomorrow night but the venue is outside and I'm not sure I want to
tolerate the heat.
