Is U.S. News and World Report generally considered left- or right-leaning? |
|
I picked up a copy in the waiting room at my physical therapist's office (recovering from a minor thumb surgery two months ago) and read almost all the way through it. I noticed that it seemed to be a very balanced approach to news that even barbed at right-wingers (I noticed several scornful references to FoxNews) here and there.
I have not been terribly familiar with this magazine until now, but I'm considering getting a subscription. Is the quality of their reporting consistently this good, or was this an aberration?

1. Generally somewhat right-wing |
|
Their columnists are all center to RW.
As to the magazine's overall quality, I haven't read it enough to say.

2. Historically it has been considered more conservative |
|
but now I really don't see much difference between it and Time and Newsweek. Time was also considered conservative due to it being published by Henry Luce. Newsweek, which was put out by the Graham family was considered more moderate. I don't think any of them could be considered "liberal" or "progressive".

7. That statement negates his feelings for Bush. |
|
Nobody who says that should be anywhere near editing a news magazine that is to be taken seriously.

6. It used to be THE conservative news source... |
|
...just the way Faux News is today, except aimed less at the fundie trailer-trash Republican, and more at the "old money" and corporate class G.O.P. In other words, lots of pro-big-business and strongly anti-Communist spin to their self-proclaimed "impartiality."
In the old days, we used to call it U.S. Skews and World Distort. ;-)
