1. allow hearsay evidence to be introduced unless it was deemed "unreliable"
Erm, hearsay IS unreliable by definition. And preventing the accused from attending their own trial? Just cut the formalities already and just kill them, political prisoners and other "undesirables." That's all this boils down to: We catch you, you're as good as dead no matter what the truth is.

Oh, and be sure you wear your jackboots too. Lord knows you can't do a proper goose step march in Nikes...

4. This BS reminds me of the "Witch" skit from Monty Python's Holy Grail....
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 08:00 AM by WePurrsevere
and is even more incredibly absurd given that we're supposed to be so much more "advanced" now and our country is supposed to be based on the Constitution, laws, freedom and justice.

2. So to hell with the rule of law & the Constitution right? Bring back the
"good old days" of Witch hunts & McCarthy Trials.... well unless it's BushCo and/or other neo-fundie/CONs on trial. :sarcasm:

Include heresay and exclude the person on trial... this is so very very wrong. :nuke:
Legislation drafted by the Bush administration setting out new rules on bringing terror detainees to trial would allow hearsay evidence to be introduced unless it was deemed "unreliable" and would permit defendants to be excluded from their own trials if necessary to protect national security, according to a copy of the proposal.

3. Hahahahaha
This is a hell of a cute fix. I'm curious precisely how one is to prove those affadavits are reliable without extrinsic evidence. That will be an interesting exercise.
