Even Nixon and Regan tried negotiating with our "enemies"
Nixon opened up dialoge with China, and Reagan had several summits with Russia. But this dingbat doesn't even seem to have the common sense that the best way to deal with your "enemies" is to deal with them directly. Instead, he'd rather call them part of this "axis of evil", paint them into a corner, and try to bully them with threats.

Iran seems to have some respect for Russia & China. Gee, why do you suspect this might be? Maybe it's because those countries treat Iran with respect, as a fellow sovereign nation?

1. But didn't you hear our beloved leader explaining what 'diplomacy'is
all about? By his definition, diplomacy is getting agreement from you friends and allies about what do to the 'axis of evil'.

2. It seems past that point.
Iran has been negotiating with Europe for 2 years and every time they come to some sort of agreement Iran breaks that agreement. The response from the the UK, France, and Germany this week alludes that the negotiations have run their course. Will they heed the Russian and Chinese requests to freeze nuclear activity? If Iran respects them so much then I hope they listen to them.

3. I refuse to believe that this could have been avoided
Maybe it has gone past the point of no return, but like you, I'm still holding out hope that the Russians and Chinese can salvage this. But it didn't have to get to this point. Bushie squandered a golden opportunity when the reformists in Iran were starting to make progress.

5. The reformists weren't allowed to run
I presume you are talking about the last election? It was considered a widespread fraud. Not just in voting but the "General Council" disqualified remforist candidates from even running. Essentially the hardliners seized control of the country against the will of the people.

4. Maybe Bush could try Reagan's approach to Iran: Cave in and pay them.

9. but he was too old and senile to become the imperial "president"
that the neocons (who had already staged a coup within the repuke party) wanted

they really couldn't believe that Clinton prevented the first would-be-king george from becoming the first emperor of Murka.

10. And el shrubito is too stupid & lazy. Both of them used by evil men
who could not get elected (even WITH election fraud) on their own.

And, yes, the real anger they had about Clinton is that the poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks derailed them for 8 years. Then he had the balls to rack up a government surplus which they had to work extra hard to get rid of so they could get on with their goal of bankrupting the place so they could gut ALL social spending programs in the name of 'doing something about the deficit'!

The Big Dawg sure did throw some big ol monkey wrenches into their nation eating machine.
