1. Tough one , there. Green is the quality candidate..... |
|
... but the quality candidates generally lose in the general election. Still, I'm inclined to lean toward Mark; Also the party apparatus is behind Cuomo. Score another 5 points for Green there.
Mahoney ( I though it was Maloney, no?) is the openly gay former Clinton aide. He gets 6 points for being openly gay; loses two for working for Clinton ( Bill; if it were Hillary he'd lose 5). Speaks well. It would be nice to make history but I'm not sure he comes with much in the line of credetnials.
Cuomo will probably run the strongest statewide against expected candidate Pirro. Cuts into the edge GOP usually enjoys among Italians and catholics.
There are other candidates.
I'm for Green, I guess. Mahoney (Maloney?) is my fallback guy.
Part of me hopes Cuomo wins 'cause Pirro is a true horror show.

And I have no excuse whatsoever for getting an Irish name wrong, esp since I sent this fellow a check last Spring! Has anyone besides Maloney taken a stand on gay marriage rights?
The attorney general's spot is largely involved with consumer protection - points for Green
It's also a stepping stone to higher office - points for Cuomo
Would some people vote for Pirro to get back at Cuomo senior?

3. I'm not sure about marriage rights. Oddly enough, |
|
Maloney himself was quoted as saying that as ATTY General he would argue *against* gay marriage as AG since that was the position of the "state" and the AG should always support the position of the state.
I would support him only because of the need to break barriers; not because his position reflects my own.
My guess is that Green's position on marriage is more progressive than Maloney's. But I'm not sure.
