1. I dont know what event you are talking about, but...
...if you are expecting Democrats to do something creative & aggressive, forget it. Those kind of "stunts" are only for the winners.

And I do not plan to cooperate with evil at any point

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/04/07/031...

This quote comes from a speech Dr. King gave on January 14, 1968. He had visited Joan Baez and her mother in jail and he gave the speech outside the Santa Rita jail in California afterwards.

“And I do not plan to cooperate with evil at any point. Somebody said to me not too long ago,

“ ‘Dr. King don’t you think you are hurting your leadership by taking a stand against the war in Viet Nam? Aren’t people who once respected you going to loose respect for you? And aren’t you hurting the budget of your organization?’

“And I had to look at that person and say,

"get a clue Democratic senators and representitives" SLaD says

“‘I am sorry sir, you don’t know me. I am not a consensus leader. And I do not determine what is right and wrong by looking at the budget of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference or by taking a Gallup poll of the majority opinion. Ultimately a genuine leader is not a of consensus but a molder of consensus.’

“On some positions cowardice asks the question, ‘is it safe?’

“Expediency asks the question, ‘is it is politic?’

“Vanity asks the question, ‘is it is popular?’

“But conscience asks the question, ‘is it right?’

“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right. And that is where I stand today and that is where I hope you will continue to stand so that we can speed up the day when justice will roll down like waters all over the world and righteousness like a mighty stream. And we will speed up the day when men will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks and nations will not rise up against nations neither they will not start a war anymore and I close by saying as we sing in the old Negro spiritual,

“I ain’t going to study war no more.”

4. yes
this latest 'righteous' indignation really says it all. With all of the death and destruction, Condi spouting the need for it as birth pangs of a "new middle east", these towers of strength are finally going to walk out on somebody?

ha ha ha

It's kind of right up there with me like one you might ask about why they overwhelmingly passed the Patriot Act without reading it.

In this much, it's not about moral leadership and integrity.

10. We are not a good party because of the people in Washington....
They are grand standers and are as corrupt as the Republicans. It may tick people off to hear it, but you simply do not get into power in this country without doing a lot of dirty work. The whole system we have is completely fucked up, and the Democrats in Washington have done their own fair share of fucking it up.

We are a good party because we believe in hope, not because of politicians who raise our hopes, get elected, and then dash them with red tape and failed promises.

14. I've been wondering this for MONTHS
Remember the great Harry Reid shutdown? Not a peep since. And no stinking report. If Democracy died, I'm giving half the blame to the Dems.

Christ, if democracy dies and you've been "wondering" instead of getting in your reps' faces, I'm blaming YOU. 100%.

There might come a time when the Democratic base says enough is enough. Then and only then will we get the leaders we deserve.

21. Too many "LIEbermans". And the many non-"LIEbermans" are worried
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 10:58 PM by w4rma
that taking too bold a step will tick off the "LIEbermans", who will then go on every talk show with their big mouths (btw, those same talk shows are very unlikely to give much - if any - airtime to non-"LIEbermans"), and cause Dems to lose this chance to take back Congress in November.

And, I'm unhappy to say, it's the only workable strategy that will maximize the number of Democratic seats in November, I think.

I heard Reid on National Puke Radio this morning and wondered "WTF?"

Where's the outrage over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? W.T.F.

"Getting Away With Murder"
While the world watches
I don't care WHO is doing it ! I just know that it is wrong, wrong, wrong!

humanity, hang your collective head in SHAME!
