WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraq will join some other Arab League nations in condemning Hizbollah's attacks on Israel, Iraq's foreign minister told U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday, as Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki addressed a joint meeting of Congress.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari told lawmakers that Iraq will join Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in condemning Hizbollah, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada told reporters.

Reid and many other Democrats were irate that Maliki last week denounced Israel as the aggressor in the conflict in Lebanon, without laying any blame on the Islamic militant group Hizbollah. They had called for him to apologize or clarify his remarks.

Maliki, addressing a joint meeting of the Senate and the House of Representatives, said Iraq was key to defeating terrorism worldwide. Recalling the failed uprising against Saddam Hussein in 1991, he urged the United States not to abandon his country.

2. "abandon his country"? More like "don't abandon me to the Iraqi people".
Collaborators with occupying forces don't usually fare well after the occupiers leave.

5. You happy that the US controls Iraq, and they are not free to run
their own affairs? To speak as they choose?
In the country i want to live in, i don't want it to create puppet regimes.

9. Does the "Mayor of Kabul" Hamid Karzai run a US puppet regime?

Or is that a free and democratic society we created in Afghanistan?

Keep in mind that PNAC signatory Zalmay Khalilzad was the brains behind both the Iraq and Afghan "democracies" Bush gave to these counties.

8. Are you kidding?
Do you really think the Iraqis didn't already know that the USA has a puppet government living in the Green Zone?

Do you suppose this comes as a big surprise to them?
