When nukes breakout, will they penetrate grounds to ignite oil fields? |
|
I am thinking the whole region is going nukilar soon...So when Saudi Arabia nukes Iran and Iran nukes Kuwait, and Israel nukes Iraq and Syria and Qatar, and Lebanon nukes Bahrain...etc.
Will any of the nukes get into the underground to ignite the crude oil under there?
If yes, will that be considered Armageddon?
Actually the idea is kind od appealing, we would get rid of oil at once and everybody there would have killed each other/themselves...

3. How shallow do you think oil wells are? |
|
Wellheads, pipelines etc I can imagine being set on fire, but it seems to me that the size of the thermonuclear devices needed to make craters so deep that they would expose oil deposits to the air so they could burn would make the burning oil the least of the world's problems.

6. There's no oxygen down in the oil sands. It wouldn't burn. |

7. "...we would get rid of oil at once..." |

And burning all of that oil all at once would release all of that carbon into the atmosphere - all at once. No way is that a good thing.
Not that I think it would actually happen. I'm not a geologist but I think most of the oil is too deep and too embedded in rock for it to all catch fire. Someone more knowledgeable may correct me on that.
What I'd wonder about is if it would be contaminated with radioactive elements. Wouldn't it be a terrible dilemma to have to decide between freezing to death this winter or burning radioactive heating oil!

Calling widespread nuclear destruction in the Middle East as "kind of appealing" is inappropriate.
