Yuma's Rep. Jones back on Nov. ballotHigh court clears him of petition fraud charge filed by Democrats

The Arizona Supreme Court on Thursday overturned a trial court's ruling that kicked a Yuma lawmaker off the ballot in a key state Senate race.
A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled last week that state Rep. Russell Jones, a Republican, had committed petition forgery in the race for an open seat from Legislative District 24 in southwestern Arizona by misrepresenting that he had personally circulated some of his nominating petitions.
Jones appealed the ruling to the state Supreme Court this week. If the ruling had been upheld, Jones would have been banned from running for public office for five years.
The Supreme Court's decision said "the trial court's finding that Jones is guilty of petition forgery and disqualifying all of his petitions is vacated."
