When Blair said, "Condi must succeed." |
|
Remember when Junior was smacking his potatoes with his mouth wide open--and talking like a constipated cowboy with Tony Blair at that dinner?
After Junior said that Condi would be sent, Blair leaned over and said, "Yes, and she MUST succeed." Junior nodded his head in agreement
Does anyone want to guess what Blair meant by "succeed." Anyone?
I assumed that Blair meant that Condi would step in, stop the fighting and get credit for brokering peace.
Maybe it's interesting that we heard that food-smacking conversation between Junior and Blair. Because, I would really like to understand what is going on.
Condi is standing firm on being against a cease-fire. She's doing the opposite of brokering peace, and she looks like a failure. She looks like she's responsible for keeping the death numbers increasing--on both sides. Maybe that's success to Condi. Maybe it's success to Blair. Maybe Blair and BushCo have parted ways on this one.
It seems highly unlikely that Junior and Blair wouldn't have both been on the same page. When Blair said, "Condi must succeed," they both were in agreement and seemed to understand what had to be done.
Sorry for blathering...I'm just trying to understand all of this.

2. It's a bit like High Noon |
|
Ultimately she must be seen to be the hero of the hour. Problem is all the unnecessary deaths in the meanwhile. I doubt she'll succeed anyway and the hero will be another - yet to be determined.

4. Succeed to Bush was different than to the Poodle. |
|
The Poodle actually still believes Bush is trying to stop the violence. For Bush, success was to let the Israeli onslaught continue. Condiliar succeeded for Bush. Blair is still clueless as ever. You get outfoxed by Bush, that's pretty embarassing.

6. Actually, it was slightly different. |
|
Blair was telling george that he (Blair) should go to the ME. He said something to the effect that he could just go over there and talk to people, but if Rice went her "success" was imperative.
* cut him off in a humiliating moment of total disregard and disrespect- just changed the subject.

8. It seems straightforward. |
|
It was imperative that she go and find a solution, a compromise of some sort, to stop the bombing and deal with Hezbollah. "If she goes, she has to succeed. She just *has* to."
She failed.
Presumably she'll try again, or somebody else will. And that person will fail.
The best that anybody can hope for at this point is either Israeli success and a sharp curtailment of Allah's Partying, or for somebody to start the 'kick the can' game, and simply hope that somehow a stronger Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Middle East is a good thing for everybody concerned. The shorthand for that game is 'ceasefire'.

9. Well, she left Rome a failure today. |
|
Of course, we will all be innundated with stories of her playing Shostakovich on the piano and being the first African-American woman born east of the Mississippi River before 1965 to land a double toe loop while singing a Russian folk song.
