Why are Lebanese lives being devalued in relation to the Israelis'? |
|
Why does the argument about Israel's actions always push the Lebanese lives and livelihoods out of the equation or devalue them in relation to the security needs (wishes) of Israel? The collateral effects of Israel's reprisals have been devastating to the Lebanese.
such as:
- Destroying Hizbollah's 'enterprises' with airstrikes to degrade their financial ability
- Destroying Lebanese infrastructure, roads, bridges, water and electricity, homes
- Targeting and striking populated areas which are described by the Israeli military as Hizbollah 'strongholds'
In all of these areas of operation, there has been a historically high death toll of civilians for such a short engagement. Do the Lebanese lives EVER rise to the importance of those innocents Israel says they're defending in their own country?

6. that would be ridiculous |

I grieve for those killed by the barbaric flinging of rockets into Israeli towns. I just don't think these Lebanese lives have been given as much weight as those of the Israeli's in the equation of this campaign. That's perhaps an understandable consequence of war, but it is not a static equation except in the will of those who would influence Israel to discourage them away from the further destruction of Lebanese lives and livelihoods.

2. Cause that's the way this racist, war-mongering game is played. |
|
And the parting gifts suck.
I'm so enraged by this carnage, and its cheerleaders. World gone mad.

3. In fairness to the pro-Isreal faction |
|
I don't think anyone in a conflict values the lives of their adversary equally or higher than their own side's.
unfortunately. What a great world this would be if they did.

8. In fairness??? That's the f*ucking problem. The racist, paternalistic, |
|
collective punishing attitude of Israel toward the Lebanese people. There is absolutely nothing FAIR about their attitude or actions.

9. I agree with you, however, I'm speaking to the point of why |
|
Israelis see lebanese lives as less valuable than their own. When I used the word "fairness", I meant that that trait, of valuing the lives of your countrymen over others, was a common trait to the human animal, and that its a shame that is so.
You misinterpreted that (I think) to mean I felt Isreal's actions were fair. If so, you have woefully missed my point. I believe Israel's current policy is a war crime of such depravity I'm nearly bloodless thinking about it.

|
those years ago. you will see the israelis are the same thing their god told them to do 2000+ years ago. the causes and effects, reasons and blame may be different or the same, but nothing new to see here.

Abraham should NEVER have fathered that child with Hager.

11. The ironic thing is Sarah offered the handmaiden Hager to Abraham |
|
because Sarah was barren. It wasn't cheating, per se. In fact, Hager did only as she was told.
