Does anybody greet Howard Dean with a Dean Scream? |
|
I thought it might be fun, given all the hoopla and hollering about it during the primaries, to turn the "Dean Scream" into an enthusiastic cheer to mark the arrival or speech of Chairman Dean.
Example: At a speaking engagement, an introductory speaker gives the usual compliments, describes Dean's accomplishments, lists his current work, and concludes with, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the DNC Chairman, Howard Dean! Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!"
Has anyone done this already?

though I think Dean has shown he has a sense of humor about it. Though I don't. As a huge Dean supporter in '04 the media went overboard for days about a non-issue--the "Dean Scream" while ignoring very real issues. But that is the media for you--a bunch of corporate whores.

Didn't I read somewhere that the audience at the event was shouting and cheering, and Dean only appeared overly loud because whoever was editing the story backed out the background cheering, leaving only Dean and the impression that he was screaming like an idiot?

5. that's exactly what happened |
|
but our very own people, and even quite a few here on DU were right there next to the fuckhead republicans pissing and moaning about what was the equivalent of a locker room pep talk.
I'm still bitter and angry.

7. Here's a video clip taken in the room where he gave the speech. |
|
You can tell that he couldn't be heard above the crowd. The media used a uni-directional mike that shut out the crowd noise. http://www.valuejudgment.org/archives/000441.html

8. The "scream" speech really does look like a pep rally |
|
When you listen to the crowd cheer for him while he does the scream. Dean was just unfortunate in the circumstance of his speech because people watching on tv couldn't get a full idea of what he was speaking about and to whom.

9. Didn't need to edit out the background -- it was a directional mike |
|
and what was seen by the people at the rally was as you say, just him joining the enthusiasm, but the camera and sound only picked up him.

3. The media did all that because the GOP did not wanna face Dean in Nov 04 |
|
So he was painted as some sort of howling lunatic instead of the righteously pissed patriot he is.
I howl in MSM's general direction.

4. he actually did a commercial with that |
|
It was hilarious, and yet not.
The media was partly responsible for taking away a wonderful candidate from the dem party. I'm just glad we have him in some fashion and his voice is still being heard!
I think if he were to run again, they'd do their best to ruin him using that 3 sec footage, he needs to be able to poke fun at himself.. so it can't be used against him.
