A friend has a son in Iraq. He says he won't be able to call her for up
to two months while they redo the phone system. Any theories?

9. Please don't go after me, but my son works in Iraq as a contractor
He has a cell phone which the company has tried to take away from it's employees. They refused to turn them in. They have a phone room where they have no privacy. He used it once. They also have an internet area, that is "occasionally down".

I think that "they" would like to control the flow of information and communication as much as possible.

10. "River City" is a term used when a
complete communications ban is in effect, say when a big operation is on the way or when something really bad has happened and the Military wishes to delay the release of information. The phone thing may be true, see if you can email him, then you will know the extent of the communications ban.
