My Big Idea
Listen, what if the big plan with the Middle East is to weaken the Dems in time for November,
either alienate the anti-war, progressive dems by having the congress support Israel, or
split the bloggers into Pro-Israel or Pro-Lebanon sides, divide and conquer, as simple as
a.b.c. Well, here's my big idea, for every week that Israel is in Lebanon, we send in an extra
donation to the Dems, anyone who can do it, I don't care if it's 5 bucks, send in an extra donation to the DNC, when our friends in DC, see the money swelling towards the Dems more than it is right now, they will find ways to give Peace a Chance. Okay, for those who don't like
the DNC, donate to a Dem race where needed, Ohio, Virginia, New York, pick one.

1. For a limited time only,
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 09:14 PM by evlbstrd
a group of Democrats is offering to match, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000 in personal/non-corporate donations. I got a call from the DNC just this evening. I'll be sending money next payday.

edited for spelling, dammit

2. If this war can split the electorate and cause a Dem to vote for
a Repug....then we aren't worth saving as a nation - much less winning seats in the house.!!.....

4. I know that, but if they see their strategy is not working
then maybe they will back off with these no-win wars, Plan B, they should be using Plan G-O
which is go home. They are talking about sending 30,000 US troops to Lebanon

5. This Probably Sounds Silly, Miss, But...
Were your idea actually to take off, and the coffers of the DNC swell with every passing week of the conflict...what would be the incentive for the democratic party to call for peace?

And, not for nuthin', but in case you haven't noticed, very few politicians in America, Democrat or Republican, are saying anything against the Israeli invasion of Lebanon....probably because we're heading into an election cycle and no one wants to suffer the wrath of the Israeli lobby.

Which is a very frightening, if you think about it.

6. I don't think this is about the democrats now
I think it's a cruel hedge your bets game by the majority party, they are callously trying
to escalate the war to maintain power, those innocent little children burnt on the altar
of these greedy, power hungry freaks, the only thing they care about is money, if they see a
shift in money, they will change their actions. They have none of the feelings we associate
with normal people. GOP donations for congress are shocking low and they even have to
defend formally safe seats like those in Iowa.

8. yes, I am sure that is true

but if they see there is no support and that it will only result in a larger Republican
loss than what they expect, why would they stay the course, especially when Iraq
is out of control and they are pulling troops from all over Iraq just to control Baghdad.
I am only sorry that I did not think of this at the beginning of the Iraq War.

9. As Opposed To....?
The War we're already fighting in Afghanistan? Or as opposed to the war we're already fighting in Iraq?

Since we're the Daddy to Israel's Li'l Baby in this situation, I submit that the United States, run by George Bush and the Neo-Con supporters of a Project for a New American Century are dragging us into this war.

George Bush wants to eradicate terrorism to make us safer.

I'm pretty sure that, even with all evidence to the contrary, he believes that starting an all-out regional war in the Middle East, from Saudi Arabia to Afghanistan, is the best way to do that.

He really hasn't tried to keep it a secret.

11. Okay, I thought that maybe Afghanistan was legitimate
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 09:37 PM by MissWaverly
since that was the base for Osama, at first, but I didn't expect this thing to escalate
into Iraq esp. when the UN weapons inspectors did not confirm what Bush was saying.
I know he claims that this is a war on terror or is it something else, Saddam had no
WMD's and was not linked to Osama, Bush admits the war was based on bad intelligence
and we are still there and there in no progress and billions have been spent, billions
for a mess and the massive suffering of the Iraqi people. If it is not a "War on Terror"
and it is something else, X = unknown, then I am not for it and think we should leave.

13. Yes, if we had just paid attention, we would have had real results
but then Bush would not have been the War President with unlimited power for 6 years.

14. Bush wants nothing like that. He doesn't give a shit. He wants profit,
and he wants his backers to profit.

There are two ways to do that:

Start more wars, and make sure Republicans keep control of government.

Fuck terrorism. Fuck keeping us safe.

He doesn't give a fuck.

15. He Does Have An Icy Cold "FuckOffiness" To Him, Don't He?
But, I also believe, (addictive personality that he well-documentedly possesses), that he seriously believes that he can eradicate terrorism throughout the world by unleashing America's might and sheer force of will.

Our foreign policy had flaws in it long before Prince George showed up at the White House door, but it's safe to say that that sense of pragmatic realism we used to possess went bye bye before Laura even had her china pattern picked out. (I'm sure she picked something plain. And white. Colors and personality are just so flamboyant and rude. White china is fine. Well, maybe eggshell. You only live once! Unless you think that's too, I don't know, flashy? Maybe just the white, then.)

THAT was evidenced by his immediate withdrawal from the ABM Treaty--remember that?

And then when those planes struck, whoa boy, fuhgedaboudid.

This horrific confluence of seemingly unconnected phenomenon to create a powerful disaster was already effectively illustrated in the movie "The Perfect Storm." When history tells of these years, though, the title will be changed to "The Perfect Shit Storm."

In any event, George Clooney will star in that one as well, I'm sure.
