So after watching The Daily Show last night |
|
who still thinks the Pentagon should continue to exist? So when "our"(because they're working for us) scientists finally figure out how the brain works, you think the Pentagon won't be the first to acquire this information? You think DARPA won't get to play with the brain?

after it is purged of its political generals, given a comprehensive audit, and is run by a Defense Secretary appointed by an administration that isn't batshit crazy.

there is a vast pipeline of money, a disproportionately large chunk of the Federal budget, flowing from DOD to private industry. There is little, if any proper oversight, and alot of it I suspect is ending up in people's pockets. The entire defense industry needs to be reigned in, it's like one big Mardis Gras right now.

military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about, and that's been brewing since the arms manufacturers got us into WWI. Probably even before that, with the Batsto iron mills pushing for war back in the early days.
I have no idea just what can be done now, with the military having managed to insinuate itself into just about every part of our lives.
Look at the base closing kerfuffle last last year. I was living in Joisey at the time, and every politician over there, even the local ones, screamed about how Ft. Monmouth had to be saved for the good of the country. Or at least for the pizzerias in Eatontown.
Contracts for everything from aircraft carriers to neckties are scrambled for, with congresscritters clawing at each other for another couple of jobs in their districts.
