Katherine Harris debacle continues: FL GOP planning switcheroo?
Harris buzz growing a bit louder
Speculation: What would happen if she won primary, then quit?

By Larry Wheeler
DEMOCRAT WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - It may be wishful thinking, but some Florida Republicans are contemplating what could be the most bizarre turn yet in Rep. Katherine Harris' beleaguered run for the U.S. Senate.

According to their speculation, Harris would withdraw from the race if she wins the GOP primary Sept. 5. Harris has told reporters that she has no plans of withdrawing, but the speculation continues.

State Republican Party executives would then appoint a replacement for Harris, an option under Florida's newly revised election law. That replacement would face incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Orlando, in the November general election.

...SNIP...

The speculation includes a scenario in which the party's elite, still clinging to the hope of finding a candidate who can seriously challenge Nelson, would give the nod to whoever finishes second in the Republican gubernatorial primary, Johnson said.

2. Sounds like they need someone who can get within a margin of error
so the vote, when counted and stolen, won't be so obvious. Sorry, but why else worry about this at this late date.

3. So she's still a tool for the goppers?

They used her like a greasy rag and threw her aside and she's coming back for more. That's precious.

5. Ah, Florida.
from the article:

>>Last year, the Florida Legislature changed part of the state's election law that contemplates the withdrawal of a primary winner due to death, illness or any other cause.

In the past, a special election would have been held to fill the vacancy. But now, the law stipulates that the party has five days to figure out a designee and seven days to get that name to the secretary of state.

If the party doesn't get the new name to the secretary of state before the primary results are certified, the old withdrawn name appears on the ballot and any votes cast for that candidate are counted for the new nominee. If they get the name to the secretary before then, the new name appears on the ballot.<<

conniving little critters, aren't they? nothing is too low for the sleazy slime to crawl under-

Republican Senate
Republican House
Republican Governor - appointing 'follow the leader' judges

All I gotta say about the whole situation, again, is -

Senator Nelson,
Take good care of yourself. Watch your back. Don't take candy from strangers.

9. that's how they got alan keyes on the ballot in illinois
forced a relatively sane thug off the ballot so they could slate keyes. which they did because they could not get a gay marriage amendment on the ballot to cover their vote stealing.

11. the relatively sane thug
was an adulterous swine who got off on voyerism. Keyes was insane but at least he wasn't that beastly to his wife and hadn't been that beastly to his daughter yet.

he was as bad as your average thug. but such skeletons abound, and are only dragged out when it is convenient. he was a duly elected ass, and the voters of illinois were over ridden by kkkarl & co. voters are entitled to elect jerks, creeps and assholes, should they so desire, which they did.

on edit- are you saying that alan keyes was a better husband and father than ryan?
