EXCELLENT ELECTIONS NEWS FOR DEMS, NPR NEW SURVEY
The survey covered the 50 most competitive districts, this is where the elections results will be determined in November.

Outstanding positive news for the good guys:

Only 3 in 10 of the mostly GOP districts plan to reelect the incumbent

Democrats much more interested in election: 2/3 rate interest as "10"

Roughly half say they are more enthusiastic than usual

Democrats ahead in both generic and named Congrassional vote

Democrats claim edge in Republican-held seats

Republicans trail badly in top competitive seats, but also safer seats

Issue debates move public toward Democrats, particularly stem cell research

Value issues like stem cell research, flag burning, gay marriage show Dems ahead by 14%

Dems also win value issues among Independents

There is more good news here folks, the best we have looked in ages...Full survey here:

2. Very good observation, and as far as I am concerned
This is where new or added votes should or would come from, not new voters...I think Howard Dean had wanted to get to these people, I hope the strategy is working...

3. Winning the "War in Iraq" Issue with independents 50-35
See page 20/20 in the .pdf.

On page 19, we should be doing better on the War issue among all voters, but only come up 49/44.

How on Earth can 44% of Americans favor the republican position on the war?!

5. War was never our issue or strong suit..The fact we have this kind of
showing is incredible, remember, many many people think they SHOULD support during the conflict...

4. How did Diebold poll?
Don't count any chicks before they hatch because we are dealing with thugs worse than any Mafia ever hoped to be.

8. From the stats, it seems the independents are more liberal than the DLC
would like us to believe.

9. As an independent
I consider myself more liberal than conservative. I registered independent long, long ago, because of my cynical opinion of political parties. My husband, also a registered independent, is much more conservative (in the old-fashioned definition) than I. He is hoping the Republicans get their asses kicked this fall.

10. Now if we could only do something about Diebold.

Like maybe a cease and desist order good for about three more years. But then we would have to go through theBushCo courts, wouldn't we.

12. Bush approval ratings in these competitive (mostly GOP districts)
is only 42% and 45% strongly disapprove while only 24% strongly approve of him. This election has to be a referendum on Bush.

13. remember those numbers when you see the results and wonder
I remember in 2004 reading in NYT how in Ohio Democrats were outregistering GOp by 2 to one. Too bad those registrations must have been on the wrong paper....
