In Alabama, Charles Barkley Considers Running For Governor (As A Democrat)
In Alabama, Barkley Eyes Public Office

"Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has changed his political uniform from red to blue and is talking again about running for governor of Alabama, possibly in 2010," the Sports Illustrated reports.

Said Barkley: "Alabama, that's my home. I'm thinking about running for governor; they need the help."

As we noted earlier, Barkley recently expressed his dismay with the Republican party and would most likely run as a Democrat.

"I used to be a Republican, before they lost their minds."

-- NBA superstar Charles Barkley, quoted by the New York Post.

1. I will take this with a big old grain of salt...
and large cup of skepticism.

3. He said it simply
when he said it was all about the taxes on his millions ...

But I bet it was being constantly mistaken for the hired help at all the GOP gatherings that started bothering him ...

4. Excellent!
I like Barkely. He's witty and intelligent. He'd make a fine governor.

6. Third Barkley thread I've responded to in the past
few minutes.

No. I'm not paid by the man, but wonder about something.

He said he thinks the Repukes have gone crazy. He said he wants to help people in their day to day lives.

Why shut him out? Also, consider, there is a lot of time between now and 2010 for him to put his actions where his mouth is.

Why are so many so quick to condemn? I say welcome to the team.

7. Totally agree!
Underestimate Sir Charles at your own peril. This man can shape opinion. I can't think of anybody better to bring outsiders into our fold. If someone can't see that, well then they don't understand how influencial Barkley is to a whole lot of folks.
