October Surprise? Saddam trial adjourned until October 15th. |

No more testimony to hear, so look for the guilty verdict and news media interviews with happy family members of Saddam's victims to flood coverage of the Iraq fiasco in the final days before the elections. http://www.forbes.com/business/feeds/ap/2006/07/27/ap2909318.html

5. Close, but it will get worse |
|
The "October Surprise" will be that Saddam gets broken out of jail and is on the loose again.

6. All the worse for Bush |
|
It'll point out that we've caught Saddam and had our show trial and Iraq is in worse shape than ever! I'm a little confused. I don't doubt for a minute that Saddam did everything he's accused of; use of chemical weapons on the Kurds, revenge killings, torture, etc. My question is whether he was strictly speaking within the law of the land when he did those things. I don't see how the administration responsible for Guantanamo can point a finger at Saddam!

7. It will look worse for Bush after the election, |
|
after it has had time to sink in that it made no diference. But for a week leading up to the election, it will all "The Verdict: Guilty" and "Justice In Iraq" on the cable news nets all day.

8. Does anyone doubt his conviction? The only way this would effect Nov |
|
is if he is (by some miracle) acquitted.
I'm much more worried about our long forgotten friend, OBL. If there ever were a time to announce he'd been killed (true or not) it would be about 5 days before the election.
