Just had an Interesting conversation with a Bush supporter
He is a mailman that stops and give mail. He is a younger like myself. Our children are about the same age etc, blah, ect., blah. Anyway, he said how he had to account for his time between stops, this that and the other. I said well you account for all of your minutes and Bush takes a nap. Start the debate:

He said "you don't like Bush, I respectfully disagree." That's when I said I don't think he is good for this country. I personally don't benefit from him there. The world certainly doesn't need wars all over. Then he asked if I believe in God? (Because I qualify as a Christian and I know my talking points, I could enter this debate better than most could here). I said yes, but God didn't pick my President. God doesn't play political favorites. Then he asked if I thought Jesus sinned. I said I don't know because I wasn't there... I don't know how many times he may have disobeyed his mother or did some little boy weird thing... then I said "He questioned his own Father as he was dying when He asked why?---And I said Jesus was man and God, born to live our struggles and learn. (Gets them everytime).

I said war is not God, Bush is not God, if we wanted to help the world we wouldn't let helpless children born in Africa live and die without a name or notice or an idea they were there. Jesus wouldn't let people suffer like this. And I don't trust Bush, he doesn't know what it is like to struggle. He doesn't know the decision to choose between this and that because our budgets in out households do matter. I think I got him to think a little. He may look at the issues a little bit differently now... The comparison to the children laying bloody in the streets pulls most people when you put your own son/daughter's face on that child.

2. I'd request a new mailman
it is his job to deliver the mail, not a sermon on how god-like * is.

4. He's a nice guy, just a little mis-directed... He needs to look
beyond what they teach him from the pulpit. I always tell him I believe in God, am spiritual, I like to go to churches with lots of music and good messages (not the holy rolling thunder of terror), but I am against religion as an institution. My relationship is with God. I don't need Bush to speak to him for me.

6. WTF does god have to do with ANYTHING?
It seems that anytime you argue politics anymore, GOD is thrown into the conversation!

8. Interesting. The OP started the conversation with the mailman. . .
but because you disagree with the mailman's viewpoint, you'd punish the mailman because he responded to the conversation begun by the OP.

There's a philosophy. . .

12. No, the GOPer made the comment about accounting for his time, the OP
made a one-sentence response, and the carrier went off on him.

Get the asshole fired!

11. File a complain with the Postal Inspector in your area. He is supposed
to be delivering the mail, not propagandizing for Shrub.

See how much he supports the POS if he is out of work.

3. I'm beginning to quote scripture at them (unlike quoting TO them)
For Tax cuts to the rich I try:"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
Luke 12:48

For Medicare/medicaid there is "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
Mathew 10:1 ... 8

For the Republican performance over all there is “You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? ... A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.” - Matthew 7:16,18.
