I don't think it matters. Other then rhetoric, what power does this group actually have?

That's what I think. It is coercion, pure and simple.

And, since it is pretty easy to edit sound bites... likely to be the parent of a lot of outright fraudulent accusations against academics.

Funny, I didn't know about this, but would have voted McCarthyism even if it were a liberal group trying to identify conservative professors. Academic freedom is just that-the freedom to express your opinions.
