The topic is via LIMBOsevic quoting NOVAKula, so consider the sources: LIMBOsevic is saying that yesterday (Wed, 7-26) NOVAKula said he was told by a prominent Repuke House committee chairman (anonymous source, of course of course) that the Repuke internal polls show them losing 30 seats, that the source says he is gung ho IN PUBLIC but that in private the reality is grim for Repukes.
That said, I searched for NOVAKula's columns, and there was no such stuff there. However, a Google search turned up something interesting: In 2002 (two thousand TWO), NOVAKula speculated that Enron might cause Dems to take the Congress (without numbers), while David BROOKS used the Repukes-lose-30-seats thingy. But in May of 2006, we have NOVAKula quoting MEHLMAN as losing FORTY FIVE seats.
So this might be disinformation/psyops aimed at getting their voters out.

.... That Old Enron Magic
By Jan. 19, Bob
Novak of the Chicago Sun-Times and Capital Gang had enough of his colleagues’ flogging of the Enron issue:
"A lot of people look upon Enron as the silver bullet. It is the magic elixir. It creates everything. It kills privatization of Social Security. It kills market enterprise and schemes. It kills capitals gains cuts. It kills everything in the world, the scandal. And
it might even elect a Democratic Congress."
.... Pundit of the Year:
David Brooks. Always well prepared, civil, witty, and insightful. His only bad call: musing in summer that
Republicans might lose 30 House seats.
