The uniformed military, however, is ardently opposed to sending American soldiers to the region, according to my source. “They are saying 'What the fuck?'” he told me. “Most of our combat-ready divisions are in Iraq or Afghanistan, or on their way, or coming back. The generals don't like it because we're already way overstretched.”

1. The article basically says it's
getting the report third hand.

Hey, I've heard from John Doe, who claims to have heard from Pete and Sarah in the CIA that * is having the defense department draw up plans....

3. Right and the Israelis have made it clear that they will bomb the
hell out of any peace keepers that go to the region. That was, in my opinion, the purpose of the bombing of the UN post yesterday. It most definitely was no accident.

5. Help me out with some math here....
We have, what, 130,000 troops in Iraq.
We have, what, 20,000 troops in Afghanistan.

Are we really that overstretched?

Do those numbers reflect just combat troops or do they include support personnel?
