Okay here is some scary ass shit...
I work with a guy here. He has a buddy in Iraq. He works for one of the alphabet named contractors that have been in the news,(that's all I'll say) supervising a cleaning crew. This is very reliable info. I'm not giving names only because I don't know them and frankly, I don't want to know them.

But get a load of what he just sent my friend...

"Iran attacked Turkish oil reserves the other day. The implication is to enter the conflict with Israel and Lebanon. It's not on the news yet. Turkey is already fighting Kurds in Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey...Iran bombs Turkey...so, there is a three-fold situation here. The purpose of Iran is to involve itself in Israel. If this happens, Israel has already warned of dire consequences. I may not be here much longer. Just waiting on responses from the two job interviews in xxxxxxx.

I can't be telling you this, but I want you to be prepared. This came from our base security. The potential for nuclear is higher than normal, but nothing to panic about. Just be prepared. Keep rations for a month: bottled water, unexposed food, duct tape.

I know you're thinking, "Oh XXXXXX, you're being extremist again." But, this time you need to start thinking about the truth. The entire mid-east will be increasing in foreign troops within the next few months. The U.S. is withdrawing troops from Iraq, but placing them in U.N. reserves. It's coming to a head, and I'm leaving soon."

Love,
XX

Take this as you want, call it a rumor, a tall tale whatever. I take my friends word for it, that this guy is not bullshiter. And honestly, what has this guy to gain by lying?

But this has details and situations that he has given, frankly, scares the living shit out of me down to my core.

Hold on tight, it's going to get fucked up real soon.

if this comes back to me I will deny everything. I don't want to be implicated in this. I'm just someone passing info forward.

1. Wait a minute...
Turkey has a very, very capable military, with a very modern Air Force that is top notch. I sincerely doubt that Iranian planes could either have mounted a successful attack, unopposed and that the news of this could have been kept quiet.

It doesn't add up.

Goto the Jane's Defense website and look up Turkey's armed forces. They ain't no pushovers. At all.

2. I'm just passing this on.
But then again we haven't heard anything. Doesn't mean that they aren't actively doing something.

We just haven't heard about it yet, or maybe we aren't supposed to hear about it.

7. I know our MSM are idiots,
but no way this kind of action in the ME is kept quite. This would be all over the BBC, and war ships from several countries would be heading in that direction.

I'm going with just a rumor on this one, but i do have supplies in the basement.

11. Well all the rapture folks are saying next week,
seems some a quiting their jobs and getting ready. Maybe they know something I don't, and lord knows they've been praying for this day for years.

But as an earlier poster stated, the Turkish military has some punch and Europe media would be all over this if Iran attacked Turkey, and we haven't heard a thing about it.

So i'm going with rumor, and supplies in the basement.

13. It's silly nonsense.
Both Turkey and Iran have been shelling the Kurds. Both have experienced cross border (Iraqi border) raids from Iraqi Kurds.

Turkey and Iran are both having problems with Iraqi Kurds and they have NO reason to fight each other. NO REASON.

I'm sure whoever wrote you heard through the gossip line the distorted story of what is really going on. What is serious is if the Turks decide they've had enough and go "Israeli" on the Iraqi Kurds.

14. Iranian Ambassador: We Support Turkey's Possible Cross-Border Operation
http://www.turkishweekly.net/news.php?id=35170

ANKARA - The Iranian Ambassador to Ankara, Firouz Dowlatabadi, has said Iran will support Turkey in case of a possible military operation against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

In an interview with Cihan News Agency concerning recent developments in the region, Dowlatadabadi said Turkey’s offensive against PKK terror is perfectly legitimate.

The Iranian ambassador estimates Turkey’s entrance into northern Iraq to eradicate terrorist hideouts will not affect Iran.

“Turkey has the right to annihilate terrorists wherever they are found. Iran is ready to do its best to help Turkey,” Dowlatabadi continued.

17. Burning question...How MUCH duct tape do I need for a month?
really, I can't figure it out. If I use 6 inches for my mouth, and 4 inches for my nose, I only need 10 inches. If I use it to make clothing, I need more. If I use it to seal up all my ducks, I need more. How much duct tape IS suggested for a month?

24. Whoa!! Hang on a minute...
Iran attacking Turkey? Sorry, complete nonsense. They are both Muslim countries and putitive allies, so such an attack makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Indeed, the UN is touting Turkey as being the lead country in any peace-keeping in Sth. Lebanon precisely because they are more trusted in Arab countries than most.

And I simply cannot understand that first paragraph: what is the "three-fold" situation he's talking about? Iran-Turkey-Kurds? Lebanon-Israel-Turkey? Iran-Israel-Lebanon? Pah...nonsensical.

As for the Kurds, they are a "problem" in Iraq, Tukey, Iran and several other countries, and have been for years. This is because their ancestral hone ("Kurdistan") lies across several moder-day countries and they have been calling for an independent homeland for decades. But that is not news. These countries have been supressing Kurdish unrest for years. There is nothing new here.

Finally, as for the potential for nuclear conflict - erm, there's only 1 country mentioned in this article that has nuclear weapons...Israel. So a nuclear war is, literally, impossible, as only 1 side has nukes. Sure, Israel could nuke anywhere they wanted, but that has been the case for 20 years and has not changed with the current conflict. Turkey, Iran, Lebanon etc...all non-nuclear-weapon countries.

Sorry, I don't mean disrespect, but this is all just a load of mumbo-jumbo spookery.

26. Pure bullshit

Aside from the points made by other DUers upthread, this piece of bullshit immedietly caught my eye:

The U.S. is withdrawing troops from Iraq, but placing them in U.N. reserves.

We're not withdrawing troops from Iraq, just the opposite, we're keeping people there that should have come home on a normal rotation. And what the hell is a "U.N. Reserve"?? That phrase is right out of the John Birch Society Handbook on the U.N. taking over the world and invading the US.

29. Don't know about Iran and Turkey, but
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 12:50 PM by wiggs
I spoke briefly with an acquaintance who just returned from Iran yesterday (used to live there some years ago). She reports that the public fully expects something to happen militarily soon, that the public does not support the Iranian leadership, and does not trust the USA leadership.

Nothing new, really, but there seems to be a resignation in Iran that this is going to escalate to involve them.
