If you could magically arrange for any living person to be president
of the US right now--who would it be?

Gore?
Kucinich?
Dean?
Kerry?
Lieberman? (just checking if your paying attention)

41. Nader could have been a great President
the problem is that given the strength of the two party system, getting him elected was always going to be a problem and by running as a third party he actually hurt the Dems chances, although I think if the Dems would get back to their basic tenets and divorce special interests, their base might actually vote in very large numbers.

Please note that I still believe Florida was stolen in 2000 and the Dems won (until the courts stepped in), but they would have won comfortably without Ralph. Dems must blame themselves for losing supporters to Nader because of ties to special interests.

Nader has fought special interests all his life and I'm glad he never compromised and sold out.

Now I'll put on my anti-flame suit. :D

63. As a corrupt paranoid with a poor comprension of reality, Nader
Edited on Thu Jul-27-06 09:39 PM by NNadir
would certainly qualify to be the equivalent of Bush.

His record on strike breaking and the violation of labor laws certainly puts him on the level of Bush, and let's face it, his obsession with fluoridated water would probably lead to something real important to the American future: The remake (or sequel) of Dr. Strangelove.

As for special interests: Nader is a special interest - his main interest being his ego.

He's been great on the issues that matter: NBA officiating and Terrell Owens football dispute with the Philadelphia Eagles, and great for informing us that Bush is as moderate as Gore. The rest of us, of course, were trying to distract from these important issues by focusing on silly trivial things like the fucking war that Gorebush started.

He certainly would have been a President who would have been qualified to represent national stupidity and let's face the celebration of stupidity is what America is all about these days.

I'm so sorry that I didn't vote for Nader and celebrate stupidity.

70. There are two special interests he hasn't fought.
1) the Republicans he took money from and hired to run his state campaigns in 2004, knowing full well that what they were interested in was a spoiler.

2) Ralph Fucking Nader. His own swollen head. The most special interest of all.

Guy has let his ego negate all the good work he's ever done. Oh well.

21. Even if I could, I wouldn't.
Man, talk about power corrupts! :eyes:

This country deserves the disaster brought on by this regime. It's not about fractions of a percentage; it's about there being sufficient support for the obscene global militarism, the exploitation, the wholesale infringements on human rights, the appalling economic inequities, the detestable profiteering on human misery and death, and you name it.

I steadfastly believe a people should have the government they ask for. If people don't have the moral courage to conduct a General Strike and take to the streets... fuck us!

35. You have a point Nut!
I never realized until lately that the Americans were such cowards. Oooh, we're scared! Not a soul in the streets, I feel like "William B Travis, carry me across the line, boys!" But there isn't any line. People are definitely medicated here, and they raise all their hall about owning and bearing arms. But they won't even raise a peep about an illegal ruling junta seizing control and destroying their lives-I don't understand.

I wish I was in one piece again, If I ever get halfway functional I swear I will dedicate my life to one thing & it will not be accomplished by laying in bed and typing. I love DU but we need tpo be active!

Big Eddie pissed me off today when a caller said she agreed with Kerry that if he was prez, none of this shit would be happening, and Ed went off on a rant about the election, and how much water he'd carried and how Kerry didn't respond to the Swiftees, and he still has to prove himself for the next election etc, etc, etc.

That wasn't the question. The question was "Would any of this shit be happening if Kerry was president." Surely Ed Schultz isn't a Nader person in disguise. Surely he doesn't think we'd be in nearly the same mess if Kerry was prez.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I still have a thing for the big lug. So shoot me.

Gore, I would no doubt have as my VP just for popular support. I would fill my cabinet with people from the left and right, as long as they weren't idiots and were clear about my agenda.

I would, within 4 years, reshape America.

I would bring peace and stability to the world and get us out of debt.

I would make our nation one of the greatest examples of democracy and freedom on Earth.

I would also end unemployment, homelessness and poverty in general.

After I was re-elected, within the next 4 years I would work toward unifying Terra under a single banner and getting humanity off this rock. (Peacefully)

maybe he and Woowoo can trade places? Couldn't possibly be any worse as Booboo is already a psycho who maintains control over certain groups of impressionable people and who claims God tells him to invade countries. He lives on a RANCH even.

I mean 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other..

Ok so bon bon doesn't have a tattoo of a swastika on his forehead...at least not yet.
