Where do you think we are headed ?
I read all sorts of posts and blogs and what news there is and watch CSPAN and Link , all else that seems reliable .

There is so much going on all around us I am a bit lost .

It seems we are headed toward some form of a world war sometime soon . Right now most of my mind is brutalized by all the senseless killing as if there are sensable kills .

It's hot , real hot but I feel lucky I still have a roof and food , no job yet but there is hope of getting even a crapy job within a month that may keep my wife and I off the streets .

There is no way anything jives , the senate talks about insane issues of no immediate importance and the news is full of off beat crap . In american we are basically screwed whether we end up poor or in camps or die of no insurance and they keep making new adjustments to take away more of our rights . We could end up with real terroist attacks or bombed to pieces . Randi feels we should all have a plan , she feels if there is a full out war then goodbye AAR and the news and we are on our own .

This does not seem like a joke , not the way things are going . I wonder if we will even have elections and if so if they will yhave an effect .

Common sense based on all I read and hear tells me we are real close to becoming completely screwed . i don't like the idea but i feel the worst is realistic .

17. That is way to broad a brush stroke.
I'm not for any of these wars and neither are thousands of other DU patriots.

3. After listening to Bush's statement today, I think we'll be attacking
Iran very very soon and possibly Syria as well. Iraq doesn't appear to be shaping up to be a war that will last our lifetime does it? So if they're going to make this war last a lifetime, then they're going to have to do something to make it happen. An attack on Iran and Syria, being surrounded on all sides in Iraq, possibly even a counter-attack and major loss of American troops in Iraq. (Can you say nuclear because Iran and Syria don't care whether the Iraqis live or die)

War drums in U.S. go into overdrive, either major enlistment or reinstatement of the draft... Throw Israel's activities into the hopper and voila'; instant war that lasts a lifetime.

10. Or hand basket? I had hope when Sen Jeffords switched Parties in
2001. I had more hope before the elections of 2002 and I really had hope before the 2004 sElection. :-( I am so counting on 2006! If the pugs retain power..........I think I might just shoot myself! :silly: I am listening to Perfect Circle's "Imagine" right now. I will continue to have hope....for now!

12. Randi feels we should all have a plan - you should
Think of what you would do, your family included, if a real emergency hit your locale. Agree on a meeting place, try to stash some goods away, i.e. water, some food, and a first aid kit. Disasters always happen when you least expect them - at the rate things are going you will probably be glad you thought ahead. If nothing happens, it doesn't hurt to be somewhat prepared - just don't be paranoid ;)

14. The collapse of empires is always messy.
Hopefully, ours will be less messy than some of our predecessors. But, with the likes of BushCo hurrying it along, I'm a bit pessimistic about that.

15. I don't feel it's being pessimistic
If you consider just how fast we went from the 2000 stolen elections then right into 9/11 which I personally feel was an inside job whether it was not reacting or direct involvement , then we were ushered for the most part into a state of fear , suddenly we are blowing the hell out of Iraq and then 2002 midterms take the house and senate then 2004 stolen elections and the multitude of lies during all of this and laced and woven within this time frame . With this i would say things are not only moving fast but have accelerated and spread out much as a forest fire on a dry hot windy day .

I don't feel at the rate things are going we have much time before all our suspicians are realized as the truth . I wouldn't be surprised if the 2006 midterms will be the final peek over the small hill that now protects us from gunfire is the last look we have before then they came for us unfolds .

It seems impossible for these nations to be wiped out and for billions to suffer and die when you look how vast even driving across one state appears so large but once you get past this illusion and realize the power of their insane nuclear weapons then it becomes possible .

We already have the dictatorship , we already have lost on every front when it comes to the politics and bush's signing statements , they got the control they need and we have this hope of november , well we had hope for three elections so far and each time it becomes stolen more outright , they don't even care to hide it . Now I hear that a paper trail is illegal in Florida , seems insane doesn't it . What's next , is it we wait until the bush police close down all media for an all out war and rashion all resources and resist only to be shot or hauled off to one of their 600 detainment centers right here in the good old USA .

I really try hard to think clearly and realistically but how much more do we need before we accept what we have experienced as not an illusion but as a long term plan being played out while we sat idle hoping for the best , who will provide us with the best , we are the only ones who can do this in any given situation .

Consider the victims of Katrina , here they are not even part of the USA , and ignored by this administration , ok they were hit by the storm and ignored , what will the rest of us be struck by right before we are ignored ? If what happened in New Orleans is not an indication or what happens to the troops or the people around the trade towers and now Lebanon as the US stands down then what do we need for proof we are all in the same boat , we have just not boarded it yet .

These madmen in control have their stocked protective bunkers to last out a while . Who knows what they have set aside for themselves . It is obvious to me we are not part of their plan for the future .

18. Oh, all right. I'll be the lone Pollyanna here.
We are not heading to World War whatever. The conflict will remain a regional conflict in the Mideast, and eventually Israel will succumb to international pressure and stop retaliating/escalating. There will be tension, yes, and skirmishes, and isolated incidents of kidnappings or rocket attacks and reprisals, but that's as far as it will go. I do not see this going nuclear.

If anything, the fledgling democracy movements in Iran and Lebanon may be inspired by the stupidity of this situation to get the Mullahs out of power in Iran, and put some serious restrictions on Hezbollah in Lebanon. I think young people over there are sick of all the dying and mayhem and neverending cycle of violence.

Terror cells will still strike here and (mostly) there (Europe), but probably not on the scale of 9/11. We and our allies will continue to find and disrupt terrorist cells and operations across the globe, but they're not as dangerous as we have been led to believe anyway.

Domestically, the economy is going to keep cooling off, which will suck. I think the only thing that may revive the labor market for some people is when the Boomers start retiring in 5 to 10 years and we have a labor shortage in some key areas. Sadly, I think that's the only way greedy, penny-pinching employers are going to increase the miserly wages they pay.

Midterm elections will see the Democratic party taking back the Senate and making pretty good inroads in the House. I have no idea what will happen in the presidential race in 2008. I just think, for Congress and for the presidency, the vast majority of Americans are bone weary of the strident partisan nature of most campaigns, from both sides. Hopefully, Americans will not take the bait on divisive, secondary issues that politicians try to ramp up into hot-button, emotional vote getters...like stem cell research, flag-burning, gay marriage, and abortion, to name a few.

Hopefully, the electorate will say, "enough with that crap. We have some real problems, and we need candidates who will offer some real, common-sense solutions. Our budget deficit is too damn big. Foreign countries own too much of our debt. Our government spends too much money. We're mired down in a war that doesn't seem to have an end halfway across the world. Our kids are not prepared to compete in a high-tech, global economy. And we still have millions of our own citizens who cannot afford health insurance. These are serious problems. We want you, Washington Wanna-Be, to tell us exactly how you propose we ALL WORK TOGETHER to fix them."

I have a dream that we start focusing on SOLUTIONS, and stop wasting time with candidates who can only gripe about the problems (or, even worse, candidates who ignore the problems altogether).

But I still think, regardless of the idiot that has been in the White House for the last 6 years, regardless of the damage we've done around the world (to others and to our own reputation), we are still a damn good country. We're still one of the best places to live. Millions yearn to come here just to have what we have--what we take for granted and often scorn. We are better and greater than the political party that happens to be in power. We are America, a nation founded upon the principles of freedom and liberty, and we will return to and learn again, as a nation, to cherish and protect those principles.

Or, then again, I could be full of guano, and we'll all be charcoal briquets in a few months.

21. Bush and Blair today
Bush really said nothing , just the fact that he let this go on in Lebanon and then sent bombs in a rush to Irael which I don't think was expected to be let out and the same instant claims he was sending relief makes no sense at all . Now bush keeps relating terror with his step forward eye stare whisper buzz words to the mike . Blair said nothing being lead by bush and bush grandstanded avoiding direct questions .

This tells me one thing , the power behind the curtain will continue to move forward with their plan of mass death in the middle east and there is nothing you of I can do about it . I hear the same banter I heard just before we attacked Iraq 3 years ago , nothing has changed other than things have gotten worse .

Even if we have midterm elections and win seats this will not change this course of mass murder . I just don't see how in such a short time frame . In fact the midterms may just be the cause that will speed up this process of war spreading out in the middle east , bush and his clan will not give this up and if they feel threatened they will push harder to reach their goal and it is a goal and a plan as I see it .

Have we reached the point of no return? I dunno, put remain very skeptical anything will change later this year or in 2008.
