I said we shouldn't read much into it (so as not to insult or jump to conclusions about other anorexics), afraid people would start saying all anorexics are self-centered narcissists or wealthy white women or some other stereotypes. But on second thought, there may be some fair ground here, as I understand the syndrome (as a former anorexic):

- VERY, very very very RIGID thinking. Black/white, no grey, good/bad, life/death.
- A perfectionist "drive" that seems odd considering how weak the disease makes people.
- Issues about control. It's like getting so great at control, especially self-control, that it gets OUT of control.

For many, it's just about self-destruction, or zeal for a different goal (dancing, modeling, etc.) so it can play out in different ways... Doesn't mean all anorexics are as bad as she is; doesn't mean anorexia excuses who SHE is. But it could be that her own particular illness plays into other things about her psychology that drive, or are influenced by, or otherwise "swim along with," this syndrome...

If I recall correctly things I've read long ago, alcohol without food is burned quickly -- it's caloric or fattening because it burns "first" and slows the digestion of food? But alcohol without food is like starvation -- no nutrients, and no lasting (fattening) calories. Not sure at all whether that's correct...

After hearing about ole girl's two recent no shows I was getting worried about her so I thought I would check in to see if she is still able to get something printable to her editors.

Diedre and son Wyatt sat in with Imus this a.m. and they were discussing Mathews interview with Coulter. Diedre also mentioned that she has an eating disorder and how bad she looked. When she called Coulter a nasty bitch, Wyatt repeated the statement......Imus made a half-hearted attempt to correct Wyatts speach.

Don't ususally listen to the Imus show but Diedre's comment about Coulter made my day.

I intentionally avoided Matthews because she was going to be on, but couldn't resist taking a peek during a commercial on CNN. I tuned in just in time to hear Coultergeist telling an audience member, "I believe in attacking the enemy and being nice to my friends. Liberals are just the opposite. They attack their friends and are nice to their enemies."

And that, in a nutshell is the way she works. Now, according to her, if I attack it means she's my friend. But, if I'm nice to her and letting her go on an endless rave attacking me (my friend, her enemy)... Well, it's a useless exercise.

In one way, she has two choices for Liberals: 1) Convert or 2) Die. But if all Liberals were forced to pick, she'd be unable to make a living from selling her hate.

133. I'm not sure about dying but she looks very sick,

whether or not it's possible that it is substance abuse causing her to be anorexic/bulimic or whether or not it's lifestyle driven she most certainly is not well. But from all the pic's I've seen of her over the last 10 years she's always been rail thin, but now she seems to have a hollow look about her.

But she's a character for the Right. Her audience has become such a small percentage of the population that she's bordering on irrelevance. For whatever reason (and who knows, maybe she's under contract with NBC) that seems to be her only vehicle for keeping her name recognition. Her books really don't sell (except for the mass buys done by RW groups) and her columns have been dropped by practically all the major newspapers. She's become a 'one trick pony'.

Personally I hope she gets the help she needs. I don't wish anything bad to happen to her. She has physical and/or emotional problems that hopefully she'll address. I've stopped reading her material long, long ago. Nor do I care to start reading her again.
