2. You don't think this is a bit of a reach? |
|
They are testing one girl. Is it possible you're jumping to conclusions?

3. You don't reckon these rat bastards think it would be a good way |
|
to get the virus spread throughout the US by way of the returning soldiers. It would help them in another way too, thin out the veteran's ranks. After reading some of the things this cabal is guilty of I wouldn't put it past them for a minute. We have evil men in high places and it is time for rummy's payout, close ties to tamiflu.

One suspected case...and the reason it is suspected is because a girl died of the flu...no prelim test has even been done yet.
This is very close to Turkey, so not out of reason that a few cases will pop up along the border.

11. Sorry, not wanting to be pricktacular, but that Masrhall Law is one of |
|
my pet peeves. I personally think that particular concern (martial law) is a bit unfounded. They want us to be good consumers/worker bees at least for a while longer, making money for and keeping the "correct" corporate/political interests profitable and powerful.

13. What you say is true, however they also want to stay. |
|
With everything that is going down right now they want to block anything that might remove them from power. Like Mark Crispin Miller said, "These people are in power and they are not leaving on their own." I'm not panicking, I just think they will do anything to protect themselves.

15. I do expect all sort of Diebold tricks, NSA wiretapping, |
|
dirty tricks to keep the BFEE in power. But I think that stops well short of martial law. At least for now.

10. It doesn't have to be a plot by the Smirk admin to be dangerous |
|
If bird flu does spread from Turkey to Iraq, it increases the likelihood of bird flu becoming a worldwide pandemic.
Iraq still has huge holes in its infrastructure. Between that and a civil war... how would the spread of the virus be checked?
And as others have said, it might spread to the U.S. through returning service and support personnel.

12. Your last point is probably not a concern... |
|
If the virus mutates (and that is by no means a sure thing), the military will screen soldiers before allowing them to travel.
This won't be 1918 all over again

14. There is still no evidence of human to human transmission |
|
Truly, folks, this kind of hysteria benefits no one.
It's entirely logical that this strain of bird flu (the one found in Turkey) might spill over to northern Iraq. This strain might easily be passed between infected flocks in rural areas of the Turkish/Iraqi border region. Many villages in that part of rural Turkey were unaware of the bird flu at all, so the raising/consuming/trade of infected birds has continued and is only now being addressed.
WHEN and IF the "bird flu" mutates into a form condusive to human-to-human transmission folks can begin to sweat. But Bush plotting to bring bird flu into the U.S.? Ridiculous, people! Bird flu destroy the military? Hell, it would destroy the economies of our own country and those around the world, to no one's benefit. And you can't quarantine that kind of flu. What are you going to do? Shut down every airport, every shipping port? By the time we notice it's here it will already be too late. That scenario my or may not happen, but Boy King George won't be the instrument of its success or failure.
