A high-profile advertising blitz is urging Tony Blair to use his meeting with US President George Bush to call for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon before more innocent people die.
Aid agencies, religious groups and public-sector union Unison are stepping up a drive against Britain's current policy towards the crisis with full page advertisements addressed to the Prime Minister in the Times, Independent and Guardian newspapers.
The adverts even appeal to readers to text their own call for a ceasefire to a given number.
The resulting hi-tech petition will be handed over to Downing Street next week, and will also include a barrage of thousands of emails, urging the premier to "Please take action now and help save lives".
