Quiz time: Which group is most responsible for the mess we are in?
And the answer is......The Mainstream Media
You see, politicians are scumbags (at least most of them) and their sole mission in life is using their influence and power so they can keep getting re-elected. Congress is one big damn frat club. We also know that left to their own devices politicians will do crooked things. This is nothing new. Since Congress is famous for not policing its own, it is up to the public to appoint a watchdog. Yes you guessed it - that watchdog is the media. Up until about 20 years ago, the media was a vigilent protector of the public's right to know and was eager to shine the light in the places where corrupt and immoral politicians hide and expose their nefarious activities. Then came de-regulation and mega multimedia groups started buying up media outlets left and right to the point that a half dozen or so giant corporations control just about every major news outlet in this country and thereby control the flow of information that is "news". The rest is history. Say hello to Fox, CNN, MSNBC all propaganda all the time.

My point here is that if one wants to place the finger of blame it must be directed towards these corporations. They have betrayed the American people who consume their product on a daily basis, and they betray the ethical standards of professional journalism. In short they are disgrace and need to be exposed as shills for the resident fascist regime.

Without an independent and objective media that is willing to report the facts as they are and not as scripted for them can a true democracy exist. If Americans want to change things they need to start right here. We need a new major media outlet to compete with the shills and give the American people the real truth about the crimes being perpetrated against the American people. I will admit that Air America is a start in the right direction, but its audience is limited. We need something that the average Joe and Jane Sixpack will watch and trust in order to start changing people's opinions and disturb them to the point of taking some action.

1. Bullshit.
Though they no doubt have played a role, the bulk of the responsibility rests squarely on those who make the policies, period.

Every single one of us knows how to go online and search for the truth, regardless of the MSM spin. Blaming the MSM for the mess we're in is quite simply a cop-out. We as a society are far more responsible because of our laziness, comfortability, and lack of motivation to do anything about it. But even far greater than that, the responsiblity is on the shoulders of this criminal administration.

4. Deal with reality
You are right that people are lazy, lack motivation, etc. The fact is that most people get their news from the daily dribble that is fed to them each day on the MSM. Some day that will change but that day is not now. You and I and all of us at DU are in the vast minority which is why we are so terribly disturbed and frustrated. It is hard sometimes for me to accept that people are so damn ignorant. But whether we like it or not they are kept in this blissful state because they choose to rely on and believe in the shit that is peddled to them from what they think are "credible news organizations".

Said again, we need to expose these shills for what they are - nothing but a propaganda arm of the fascists in charge.

8. Here's Some Reality For You To Deal With.
Probably over two thirds of all americans don't agree with shrubby or trust him. Probably over three quarters don't agree with, support or trust congress. Almost all of them don't agree with, support or trust the VP. The overwhelming majority of americans think we're on the wrong track and do not trust, condone or otherwise support this administration on international or domestic issues.

Yet even now with those numbers, what has it done for our cause? How much revolt have we seen? How much actionable passion have we witnessed on a grand scale? Not a whole heck of a lot. Sure, there's some here and there, but overall our american society is all talk no action. So don't blame the MSM for the mess we're in. Blame the administration, blame a rubber stamp congress, and blame us. Blaming the MSM as the main source of this mess is just a cop-out in my opinion, as previously stated.

2. Even many smart and educated people don't realize
they are being propagandized. (Not that I'm that smart nor educated) It took me awhile. It's insidious. It affects everything. It directs what you think about, talk about, care about, think is important and BELIEVE. That box controls people and they don't even realize it. Everyone bitches about entertainment-American Idol and such-but entertainment-and that level is for kids, teenagers anyway, is not the point. The point is the truth of our government. The point is what they tell you is NEWS. What matters. What is vital. And the thousands of facts neglected on one issue impact how we believe and thus how we act. The American people are basically conditioned to believe everything is all right. That is the biggest lie of the century. IF we were informed at the truth of this nation, those in power could not stay there.
